@tallies not losing sight of the bigger picture- just giving my view on the immediate one. The point I guess was today might not feelgreat re the sp but #holdtheline as per my previous post.

With the usual Friday profit taking, jitters re an offer landing at the final hour and ( I think the ftse 250 exit today for wg) I don't think will be a good day for the sp.

@shewillkillme I agree with your thinking - although tbh I am surprised we have got to here and no offer yet. I guess we were spoilt with directline- it was 2 days and we had an offer. The wait here has been v protracted and frustrating but potential big wins are not meant to be easy right. #holdtheline let's see if tomorrow is finally offer day.

Sell like normal. After the dlg offer (272) share ptice went to about 255 and then only recently hit the offer price and weirdly has now exceeded it. There is always a risk after acceptance that dd will throw a spanner in works so offer could still fall away hence why lots abandoned after offer accepted and took profit and ran! 🤣

Hi. So what I am seeing a lot of is buys for 13k and sells for a higher amount ( 20k plus in this case). Makes no sense!!! Why not just sell the difference- why buy??? Are rns meant to be illegible? Thanks

No news just buyer momentum I think.

I think the rise is because more people are buying in- so it's buyers momentum rather than anything to do with a leak re the deal..as someone else said would be much higher if there was a leak. Although on the other hand huge buys for the last few weeks didn't move this an inch. Who knows!! We definitely don't! 🤣

I think SL can actually leave u out of pocket in this case as if it drops v fast it will fly past your loss and sell where it lands.

M partners have sold some too but looks like a drop in ocean compared to holding.

The wait is getting annoying given speed was apparently of the essence to ensure talent is retained.

Don't think I could have been the only one waiting for the clock to strike 7am and a rns to land. Disappointing - would have been a great way to start the week!

@hellodave I would LOVE an offer of 230 but don't think will be anywhere that close due to the current sp/ challenges wg has had over last few years. I also don't think an extension is likely. S have been here before loads of times and I think the FT articles said they wanted it done quickly to retain talent. Obviously none of us know for sure but I am hoping I am right on the lack of extension and you are right on the offer price! 🤣

Hi. Are the last 2 RNS which are both for sales shorts closing or just standard sells? If the latter makes me wonder why when the momentum seems to be in favour of an offer.. also I noticed for the last few days ( according to the fundamentals button here) that sales have outweighed buys. Again goes against the tide of thinking. I am in and v much in team offer but both niggle. Any views? Thanks

On the point of shorts increasing. I wonder if this is because there is an expectation of the price dropping a little before the offer. I don't know if the market could be manipulated enough to allow the shorts to exit etc. Someone mentioned final results well this is unlikely to be great given where the sp is so maybe this will be something that is used to drive it down a bit. Just a thought. In effect if the price starts going down a little don't panic ( this is more a note to myself than others:))

I honestly think it has nothing to do with the offer. The whole matter is on lockdown- literally nothing is being leaked ( even those with some inside links are not actually getting anymore than those with no links) and this is why shorts are still rather high. I suspect just house- keeping of some sort ( maybe something due to FY end v close). I would love it to be otherwise but I just don't think it is. It genuinely would not surprise me ( would really be annoying of course) if we hear nada about it this weekend and start Monday just like the previous one- ie hoping for a RNS based only on the 1 pieced of info we have which is S is talking to WG about making an offer. In conclusion, I think the offer will land with zero warning on some random day and time before the deadline or maybe on it but it will not be like DLG where it was rather leaky ( in fact think it was a bit hostile as ceo made public didnt want the aviva offer) . S and WG discussions feel like they are [trying] to do this textbook which means we get no clues/ leaks. Have a great weekend and let's see if Monday is the day we finally get the RNS we have all been waiting for! Fingers and toes still crossed!!!

Would love a 185 offer but can't imagine it will be that high and even if was, 185 unlikely as first offer. Would make sense to offer something decent (1.20ish) and then perhaps raise a little. The pace here is frustrating but I am ( naively perhaps) seeing it as an indication that S want to get it right this time as unlikely to ever be this low again. Fingers and toes remain firmly crossed!

People (probably me included! :)) have been saying a deal is close since the news broke...there just seems no information available at all for us to make any kind of assessment though. All we can do is hope and watch (and pray it lands asap and is brilliant of course). We are in that awful no mans land and its not for the faint hearted. With DLG news broke of Aviva interest and 2 days later we got an RNS with a formal offer- this was when the price spiked from 160ish to 230ish. It was another 9-10 days before we got a second offer but there seemed to be quite a lot of news in the media (I think a lot of it driven by the CEO not being keen on the takeover). The fact we had bits of news in the media made it far less stressful than this situation. This feels far more like feeling in the dark.

Hi. I find this a bit worrying but when I was in the DLG takeover there were shorts there even when news broke of the aviva offer etc... it was only after the first firm offer landed I think around 26 Nov than there was an exodus for the door. So my conclusion ( probably wrong!) Is that there is unlikely to be any sharp changes until the way forward is clear. Right now not clear at all ( as unfortunately still in the S are interested stage). I would find it less stressful if a few would leave the room today! 🤣
