You may have a point NeedAbrain, I also believe it will be painful.
At the domestic level we have heat pumps, they need to be more efficient.
Mine is three years old now, and because the house was insulated before installation, along with my solar panels, gives me almost free power.
I would pay nothing and make a profit if standing charges were abolished.
Which I believe is also coming.
However we have no choice, gas must go.
Ev's will reduce oil consumption.
Aircraft will probably use hydrogen and still that won't be enough.
So yes it will be painful, but if we evolve along with the technology, then I believe we will have free power, in people's homes, and generate enough excess electric to run our cars or greatly subsidise them.
