Yes, interesting. Does anyone know if the Gipave uses stone chippings and bitumen at all? He talked a lot about the waste plastic it was using - of the kind that is not recyclable and must go to landfill. It is sounding to me as if they have replaced the bitumenous pitch binder with something with a lot of this recyclable plastic plus some graphene, which when it finally deteriorates can be scooped up and just reheated and relaid? Possible no bitumen at all, and hence a lot of landfill-destined plastic. Fantastic if so. Oil industry won't like it!

PS If you watched the news last night you'll have seen that the Italians made a huge fanfare of opening the new bridge (and having achieved it so quickly). Flypasts with the Italian colours, etc. It may not make a big impression in the UK but in Italy it will really get noticed. In a way subconsciously it may even become the patriotic choice, as well as the green one - and as we believe the one making the most economic sense. Stand by for major Italian orders in the coming months??

Sounds to me like once this is developed it could be put on the back of a lorry and driven to a hotspot.

Even better, into a plane, and flown to whatever country/city is at the heart of it now. The airlines are parking up all these unusable planes for the forseeable....use one of them. Say if the Red Cross or MSF really wanted to do some good they could collaborate with an airline and kit out a plane. Can go anywhere. And a barely used airport would be a great place with the space and local (and international) transport links to set up both a major testing centre and an emergency field hospital.

This could be a great step forward.

It does make me laugh though how when a share is rising everyone is saying how it will be up so much by tomorrow/Friday/Christmas/whenever. Then when it's falling it's going to halve soon, and I told you so back whenever (which you didn't). These are great contrarian indicators. When the doomsters come out, and are accepted, it's time to think about buying, if you aren't a trader. Goodness knows what anything means to a trader, way beyond me! :)

Having an average of 53 in SNG I also topsliced 20% of the gain here and put it into FARN, which has more than one covid play, produces freeze dried inteferon [I think:DYOR], but is primarily a play also on inteferon therapy, but in IV format, for later stage disease. Complementary to SNG, to my mind. If inteferon works. Which it does, we know.

Knowing that I don't really know what I am doing (!) I tend to hold a lot of smaller holdings rather than a few big ones, but inteferon was always a good candidate for therapy and thanks to SNG and now FARN my largest individual bet.

RetireBy40, I am in Directa Plus (DCTA). They are early stage, doing interesting stuff with graphene. Yesterday they announced a 9 year cooperation deal with Italdesign, part of VW, to look for ways to use their products. The share price moved.... 0%

This is nonsense. Is it the MMs who inform of the buys? If so this truly stretches my belief to breaking point: I don’t believe them. I am not normally a conspiracy theorist, but this really is nonsense.

Far more likely: – they want your shares. And anything goes to get them.

Ascot Matt. Peopel keep on about the small trial size as if it didn't mean anything, but it was large enough for each result to be statistically "significant".

My 'additional maths' O level 50 plus years ago taught me that that means that as a minimum these results would not come about by chance more than 1 in 20 times. That's good enough for a jury to convict for life. And it was in about 3 separate areas (medcram video someone posted yesterday was really clear on this), which MUCH improves the probabilities. You can only be so certain. NOTHING is truly certain, there is even a chance that neither you nor I exist. The chances were very good before, they are GREAT now.

I've never worked in business so I don't know how these things work.

I take it that before Directa's people might be saying 'We've got this product with these properties, it might be developable for such and such a job in the car world', and they work on it alone and test it alone to develop it further, without knowing what the car companies are themselves doing. Finally they have to hawk it around.

Whereas now VW/Italdesign are coming to them saying 'We need to improve such and such, we think your product can help', and they work on it and test it together?

If so it's huge: they get the place to focus given to them, where the engineers already believe there is potential, the cooperation of the engineers who've been working in that space for years and are top in their field, and all the might and testing facilities of the Italdesign and perhaps VW behind them, and to speed things up. At the end I wonder what the arrangement is about the resulting IP?

.... they remember to include a way to STOP these stem cells producing the affimers - otherwise the cure will be worse than the disease!
