Anyone considered WRITING TO YOUR MP??? This is not just about money, but saving lives (and the economy). I wrote as follows on 2nd August. I don't pretend it was accomplished, but I don't think it needs to be, they are scared of people who stuff...

SYNAIRGEN is a British company that has recently had completed phase II
trials of its nebulised version of inteferon beta, with the best
results of anything yet: by far. The trial was gold standard: placebo
controlled double blind on 101 patients. The results are - vitally
important - statistically valid. I am sure Chris Witty and co have
talked about this. Patients on the drug (SNG001) were 79% less likely
to develop severe illness, than those on the placebo. And more than
twice as likely to recover, and recover quickly, and look like they
will have less long term lung damage, if any. Three of the control
patients on the placebo died. None of those receiving SNG001 died.

SUGGESTION: the normal system is to go to much larger scale phase III
trials. But we already know it is safe [phase I and II, and the fact
that the same drug is already used for other purposes, and is anyway a
naturally occurring protein in the human body - that opposes the virus
and so the virus suppresses], and that would simply be verifying what
in fact was obvious before these trial results [unless Covid-19 had
some kind of exceptional mechanism this drug was going to work]. The
phase III trial will be like going to the moon to prove it is actually
there: it's nice, but we don't actually need to, it's just belt and
braces.

EITHER you could use executive power to bypass phase III in this
country, OR put government money behind making the phase III so large,
and so fast, that at least a huge number of patients will get the drug
fast, and many, many lives will be saved. And that essential long term
health of many will be protected, which will otherwise be such a huge
problem."

Hi Bearded Dragon. I also would be interested to know what else people hold in AI - and automation/robotics. I hold Tungsten for e-invoicing (and supply chain finance), and particularly IQE for 3D sensing (and lots of other stuff). IQE bought some cREO patents under licence from an Australian tiddler Silex which I bought into on that basis and it's done well for me as I got it at a great moment. The recent leg up was due to developing, and getting government grants for, 'zero spin silicon' which apparently is essential for quantum computing! I'm adventurous but even for me that would have been a step too far: but I'm very happy to be holding it on a free carry. Tungsten's 'Audited Final Results for the year ending 30 April 2020 will be published on Monday 7 September 2020', and I've just made my 4th buy in a year there, on that basis. It's riding Covid-19 well, and just coming into profitability, which I always think is a good moment. The usual DYOR: I'm really not an expert.

Hope others don't mind, not trying to ramp. I'djust be interested to know what the like-minded are doing.

That was a comprehensive trading update in July - I really like that attitude. Very quiet trading and even quieter board here. They look to me to be doing the right things. I suppose without news it will remain that way, and the SP will continue to drift. [I wrote this yesterday, went to another computer and forgot to post! Today's looking more exciting...]

But the next news is due 7 September 2020: full-year results for the year ended 30 April 2020. I think they could be really positive - Covid-19 should be positive for Tungsten, and they seem to me to have the right attitude and be in the right position, to take advantage. "New sales billings4 of £4.0 million were flat to prior year, although the second half run rate accelerated by 35% following our investments to strengthen our sales capabilities". They traded profitably in the first 2 months.

Top up opportunity till the results RNS? Any thoughts? Trouble for me is I'm quite high here already. Spread is massive. Spiking down today on 3 sales of 7,500 shares - someone is selling down or getting out.

Sold out today, to raise money for a top up elsewhere. Glad of a small profit, but when I went to write it up thought the usual "Am I crazy?". It seems such a solid company, and could benefit from increased infrastructure spend in the months to come. Conversely could get hammered if the economy dives first, which I fear is likely soon. But CrispFin's point is important: if the structural steel facility is already operating at near full capacity that severely limits the benefits from government infrastructure spending increases. That takes out my plus point. Reassured, sadly. Thanks to CrispFin.

Finally, the consistent director sales are worrying.

PS The range of medical targets is simply amazing:
1. IBS: bowel problems. The most obvious candidate.
2. End stage terminal cancers, of 4 different types (?).
3. Early cancers, not yet treated.
4. Specifically pancreatic cancer (which is one I suspect is often not diagnosed until it has progressed significantly).
5. Asthma (such a debilitating and widespread disease).
6. Covid-19.
7. Neurodegenerative disease.

Wow, the range! They seem to have missed out Alzheimers. Never mind, give them time..

Seriously though, this is no ramp: I'm simply repeating what is happening, from their RNS.

As far as I can tell these results are the same ones as initially announced 11th May. Now probably fully analysed by the stats people, and peer reviewed. ie CONFIRMED. The prime purpose of these 12 cases was to check for safety, as will also be the larger trial now enrolling - but if the stats from this are significant already the results from the next phase will be radical. And it's not in one cancer type, but wide ranging (but all that have run out of options), which is fantastic.

Let me also highlight their last paragraph (split up):

Frustrating! After donkey's years in this I finally lost patience and sold out in July.

One reason being the main reason I was still holding was the geothermal aspect and it now never seems to get even a mention. I haven't yet watched the full presentation, but in just the first seconds I see Perry mentioning geothermal. ! The way it goes...

Ha! Yes, I do tend to live dangerously sometimes, I admit it. But not usually very large holdings, so my overall volatility seems to be a lot less than FTSE 100 at the mo. When the index goes one way the Covid stocks go the other.

Thanks for giving your target, that's very helpful. As I said I'm not great at valuing myself, so I tend to watch carefully what posters I respect are doing, and why, see if it fits my strategy and what I think, use things like Stockop*dia, etc, add it up, and usually buy small. People don't often give their targets, nor say when they sell out: which is understandable given the abuse you can get for a "negative" view. Defeats the object, which is a great pity. Selling is much harder than buying.

PS. A long distant biology background helped convince me of the likely benefits of SNG's inhaled interferon, and when it popped I took some a put it into FARN, which is IV interferon. One of the rare occasions when I thought knew a little about the subject matter! To me it's proven. But as you say, it could still go bad.

Interesting about Cethylpyridinium Chloride.

Very much common sense about breathing out and spreading it, but also may affect the progression of the disease in you once you have caught it. It looks like it takes hold in the throat, then only maybe progresses to the lungs and serious illness, and maybe often only after a time. If you can hit it before it progresses down you may stop it completely, or at least give your body both more time and a lower load to deal with. Hence I have been gargling - just with salt - when feeling like something may have caught in the throat. Vodka would make more sense though. Those Russkies have all the answers!

Not a holder here. Tried to buy months back but the trade for some reason didn't happen and by the time I realised it had jumped massively, so I waited hoping for a pullback.... Of course it just went on up. :( Still wondering.... glad to 42trader thinks it's still cheap. Valuation is not my strong point. I know I'm asking the converted but any more thoughts? Being clobbered on FARN and SNG today - I've long believed in interferon.

(a) It looks a well thought through and well designed piece of kit. Not rushed out, but competent.
(b) I was surprised by the price, which looks reasonable. And in the longer term people will be coming back for more visors, so a continuing income stream.
(c) [! I never could count] The web page comes across as really excellent. It answers all the questions that come up in the back of your mind as you consider buying, clearly and attractively. I love the progression through levels series of pictures. The only trick I think they missed was that the branding space would also be brilliant for names - especially in something like the medical environment, into which of course they already sell.

Tempted to buy for me! But I've just bought - at considerably more expense - a virus killing mask from graphene plus [Directa Plus, DCTA, in which I am also invested], with graphene filters that have now been confirmed are effective against viruses. 'Viri'?? :)

They say the SP is 7.5, but I don't see any trades taking place down there. ???

Makes me think, now fingers are to keyboard. I've been er, slightly, moderately, a little bit somewhat green ever since uni in the 70's. Sort of sickly pale lime! Still eat meat - some - and the electric car experiment has come to a sticky end, for now. But always aware of what I am doing, and what it costs the planet, looking to avoid the excess, looking for the best alternative. Looks bad, but in a way is it the way to go? Attenborough said recently words to the effect of "if we could all just avoid WASTE".

And I've avoided companies that are major polluters or climate killers, or funds that don't take that into consideration. Looks like they expect a lot more like me...

PS. It makes you wonder why there are so many problems in food processing plants. Originally in the market in Wuhan, then around the world, especially meat producers. They are not the only industry to work close together, and they should all be PPE'd for cleanliness anyway. So, why?

Seriously, with all these problems in food packaging plants, it really could be as you say, the perfect storm - in a good way - for SYM.

Remember the Chinese blame packaged fresh salmon from Norway for one of the recent infection clusters there.

From a food producer's point of view, why take the risk? Buy from SYM.

Oh it's good to have a new group of enthusiasts here! The old crowd like me have all got a bit tired and battered and bruised.

I would have so loved to put in more at 20-odd, but 18 months ago I threw the kitchen sink at it at 67p- on top of previous buys - and have never sold. Would've been irresponsible.

But now... now.... could it be our time has come?!
