Volumes being simply the number of people at the parks? Personally I wouldn't dream of going to a theme park in these temperatures, so is this down to global warming?

Do the parks provide shade and lots of cool places? In the short term I would guess the fix could be fairly simple in the form of shaded queueing areas - using elevated solar panelling, as a 2ndary benefit powering cooled air streams [esp in strategic places - next to the hot dog stands!]. Similarly the car parks, so your final memory is not getting into a sweatbox. Make them a good experience even in the heat.

However I do like the amount of Design Work coming in, which leads on to the ongoing Supply stream revenue that is probably quite secure. The variety of fields they are winning contracts in and the quality of customer is tempting, as is the "potential market size" by 2030. Also the proportion of their bids they seem to be winning.

Can anyone tell me who are their competitors? It is interesting to me that the customers appear to me to be mainly very large companies. I would have expected they might do their own design, but they are needing to call in our outside help - and pay for it not only up front but in royalties or supply contracts. Knowing so little about it when I first heard of ASICs I thought it would be mainly mid range or smaller companies. This however, off ARM's website, is useful for me:

Really solid full year update. Revenue up nearly 12%, cash up over 20% at £29.8m, PBT expected to be well "comfortably ahead" of consensus for year.

PLUS I especially like this for the future: "Total new orders signed in the year were significantly greater than in any previous year, reflecting new customer wins as well as the growing value of the installed base. Yes!

Such a good share, such a quiet board. Maybe just too expensive. I remember years ago when I was even greener someone who's really good recommending Ideagen at a PE of over 80. I did buy - and did so well out of it.

Thanks, you saved me from writing about the same concern, but more amateurishly. If these trades are real then a takeover does look v possible. I personally don't like takeovers as it's hard enough to find a good share! Anyway, it looks likely to be a price I'd never have guessed at 6 months ago.

PS. As I understand it the government pays astonishing sums to the energy companies for not producing surplus energy from wind farms etc at night. Surely we just a step away from being the solution to that, or at least a candidate? What's now to prevent now an a fully automated use of this electricity when the grid price drops below a certain level? When in February merely a hurdle on the way to this point was overcome.... the SP rose from 8 to 19. In steps.

Logically we should do better than that now. We a proven unit, we have customers waiting just for delivery and installation. There is cash in the bank.

I've been surprised for a long time that they've done nothing with the cash pile. I would have thought the last couple of years would have been a great time to pick something up at rock bottom prices. I know nothing about business, but I'm wondering if leaving it till now or later as things recover (?) they hope to buy something that has proved survivability but is still dirt cheap. Am I talking rubbish?
