Oh no, Doonbeg is fully up to the Donald's standards. It's about as classy as his Tweets, and those McDonalds meals he's been known to entertain White House guests with, and his golf game which he reputedly cheats at. He should feel right at home with puke-coloured pebble dashing.

Being a bit inconsistent there, Manyana. A couple of posts ago -- *after* I told you it was a two-room suite -- you said I got ripped off. Now you're saying I got excellent value. Anyway, regardless, your current quibble seems to be that I'm not allowed to have my own opinion of the place. But as I explained, there are no doubt people who love puky pebble dash, drab restaurants, and garish room decor. More power to you if you are one of them. They are as entitled to their opinion as I am to mine.

But now I've promised to be good and stick to discussing Exola, a matter in which we have a shared interest. Perhaps we might even agree that it hasn't been very good value historically. Suddenly I have a mental image of ToR in a garish office with pebble dashed exterior.

Good point Urraca. The DCCAE is an even more entertainingly vexatious quibbler than Manyana. Some of those points look to have no purpose other than to demonstrate that DCCAE are calling the shots. Exola have taken a suitably obsequious line in response. I like the last point about "sound producing activities". According to the greenies underwater seismic was going to strike every living thing within a hundred square kilometres dead. Now the DCCAE are quibbling about not waking the poor fish up during nighttime hours! ;-)

As for them "seeing me coming" ... uh, think about it -- how would that work on a website? Right now a two-room courtyard suite with 7-course tasting menu is (who would have guessed) EXACTLY €900. Also, do you not see a certain incongruity in your assertion that this "classy" hotel ripped me off? LOL.

And your photo of the clubhouse beside the first tee does nothing to dispel my pebble dashing comment, as Trump's garish gaff has a whole panoply of clashing finishes. Here, allow me to return your favour with a series of photos:

1. Peel your eyes left. Is that pebble dashing I see? Indeed it is. Those are the courtyard suites. I stayed in the farthest one, right next to the hotel entrance.

Ah, brings back memories. Bad ones. Sorry mate. I've stayed in much nicer places. Ones with less pretensions and more style. I like to give a place a chance, which is why I stayed in Doonbeg in the first place. But I can think of many other places that I will prefer in future. Try not to get upset. After all, you're not invited. ;-)

If you think one has been "done" unless one stays in the cheapest room in a hotel, that's just your assessment of value which happens to be different to mine. I have stayed in lots of expensive hotels that were worth it. Doonbeg wasn't one of them. The clubhouse had cobwebs and grime on the tables. The main restaurant was drab and service was below standard. The rooms were garish. The exterior was decorated with yellow pebble dash, the colour of puke. Mind you, I don't see how that makes me a Trump detractor. I've said nothing about your beloved hero other than he has no taste. And I've said nothing at all about the people of Clare. For all I know they like puke-coloured pebble dashing.

Obviously not a golfer, huh? Well, I guess you're right -- I'm a former golfer, retired due to terminal crapness. But I spend a fair bit of time with golfers and find myself at golf venues quite a bit. Hence Doonbeg. No, I wasn't "done" in the sense you mean -- you'll find €800-€1300 is the going rate for a two-bedroom suite at Doonbeg. But it definitely wasn't worth it. I hope you're not suggesting the golf course makes up for sub-standard or overpriced (or in this case hideously garish) accommodation. I've been to plenty of scenic golf courses without rooms that made you think "The Attack of the 50 Foot John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara" was imminent.

On this no-news Monday, I thought I'd catch up with something that caught my eye ...

Surely you jest? The rooms (for which I paid €900 a night) are like a Brobdingnagian Oirish cottage. They are a bizarre clash of Tudor-style oak beams and "Quiet Man" tweeness, but all disgustingly over the top and out of proportion. The clubhouse and main restaurant were also way below par for an establishment of Doonbeg's pretensions. They might suit an American expectation of Oirishness ... as much as Lancaster PA or Solvang CA might suit their idea of traditional German or Danishness. For me it's the sort of garish ostentation I'd expect from Trump. Blech!

Why do people keep repeating £1.10 for TE-10? It's half that. Remember the mid-case estimate was slashed in half post-drill. Unless I'm mistaken and TE-10 hydrocarbon molecules are worth double TE-5 ones.

I think there is a good chance of further results by the AGM, 14 days from now. A previous RNS mentioned two weeks for unstimulated test and initial stimulated results. Clearly it won't be the last word, and they may choose not to RNS it, but gut feel says they can't / won't sit on it for the AGM.

Manyana, I am no lover of the various loons in American politics, particularly leftwing ones, but Trump is not the antidote to it. I'm embarrassed to say I was initially enthusiastic about him, but his bombast turned out to be nothing to do with "making America great again". He's an egomaniac, pure and simple. Loves the sound of his own voice. As for "epitome of the clever accountant"... have you seen his business numbers, just leaked? He lost a billion dollars in the decade that ended with his "Art of the Deal" being ghostwritten for him. I hesitate to say the man's a complete moron, but he is certainly no clever accountant. And of course he will run in 2020, as his only driving force is a personal ambition to stroke his own ego.

I completely agree with Bronxville about his effect in world politics. He's a divisive character, and for no good reason other than self-aggrandisement. It would almost be better if he had an evil cunning plan ... but cunning is not one of his attributes. He's just an unclassy dude who never grew out of the childish self-centredness that most people have to get over in order to function in the normal social order.

Ok partridge, I apologise. I haven't filtered you because you don't post *mischievous* nonsense like the people on my filter list. I take it you actually believe what you post about the charts. Personally I have no idea how anyone can put credence in technical analysis in general, but most particularly Sound's trajectory is clearly linked to the outcome of TE-10. The idea that it can be predicted from the recent share price history is (imho) utter nonsense. Nevertheless, different strokes for different folks, and some folks obviously appreciate it. I'll henceforth keep my pie hole shut on the subject. I shouldn't have been so scathing, regardless of what I think.

@Woodrow, I imagine SM is "relatively small" because its mid-case 9 Tcf is based on a "preliminary technical evaluation" (cf. RNS of June last year). Hopefully JP is comparing it to a far more advanced petroleum system model for Tendara-Lakhbir based on detailed seismic evaluation and existing finds including, one hopes, TE-10. In other words, a Tcf in Tendara is worth far more than one in Sidi at the current state of knowledge. Here's hoping he's right.

By the way, for a board that is normally heavy on conspiracy theories and wild speculation, posters seem curiously uncurious about where partridge got his insider information. Unless you are credulous enough to believe that the guy who peers into the chicken entrails and/or voodoo charts week in and week out actually has an "algorithm" for predicting RNS's to the second.

@EricHorseman, see the section on "TE-10 Well Test Timing" in the RNS of Feb 18th. Back then it was a total of 30 days testing from mid-March commencing with unstimulated, stimulated starting in late March, initial stimulated results by end March.

Based on this it sounds like unstimulated and initial stimulated results only take two weeks. Sounds to me like they will know everything bar the finest details by the AGM on the 23rd.

Is that the same algorithm that predicted seventeen share price rises in the last three months? :-/

Jones1980, the problem is they *say* they won't comment on ongoing operations, then they RNS each micro-detail. So when we hear nothing about the coiled tubing we assume it must have arrived on site because "they don't comment on ongoing operations". Then, weeks later they RNS that it's arrived.

Crudehope, you scoff at the idea that "the coiled tubing delay was some sort of school boy error!". But you concede to Jones1980 that SOU haven't lied in an RNS or omitted price-sensitive information, as that would be illegal. You've now hinted at some grand conspiracy theory by which SOU are intentionally keeping *themselves* ignorant of the TE-10 result so they can stall the queue of would-be purchasers in order to be able to announce the LE at the AGM. You do realise how crackpot that sounds?

The simple conspiracy-free explanation is that they have indeed lost 16 weeks waiting for equipment on site, and they are as much in the dark as the rest of us about the outcome of TE-10. I certainly plan to be there until the end (I don't have any other option anyway) but I am not kidding myself that TE-10 is much more than a toss of a coin as yet, with early results no more conclusive than they were at TE-8.
