Has anyone read Newcrest's technical report for Telfer. If I am not mistaken, the Havieron main dome is roughly the size of the Telfer main dome, and I think we have higher grades.

woody2002, I agree some might invest like that, but not many. I mean, if you planned to buy say £1000 / month, how can you know what price you will have to pay each month? It must be better to aquire a large chunk when the price is right.

poniexpress, my point exactly. They jumped in when the SP was shooting up, and if the next results are less than hoped for, then the same thing will happen to them again because they don't have the comfort of a really low average.

applegarth, I understand what you are saying. But I think long term gains are what we really want, not small rallies. I know well that what I said won't change the way people buy and sell. It all rests on what the exploration results show - if the results are good, then a much higher SP will be baked in as serious money gets invested.

SCC06, no the reason is that people see the price going up and jump on the rally hoping it will continue to try and make up losses they have incurred elsewhere. Instead, they should have bought while it was at O.55 or something.

The number of small trades under £1000 just shows the desperate trading practices that many PI's are following - hoping to make a quick few hundred in a space of days. Absolutely ridiculous!

People should remember the early history of Tropicana when talking about EG - it was the large mining companies that walked away back then, and look at it now. In the early days of Tropicana there was only half the evidence that we have, and less technology.

The most sensible post I have read in a long time. Only a tiny percentage of PI's are able to follow this approach to investment, especially on AIM because the volitility is nerve-racking.
