I've seen this kind of corporate cruelty in several workplaces. Businesses tend to be psychopathic as their objectives are numerical rather than human. The kind of person who go-gets into positions of authority tends to be a callous narcissistic and immature. They don't care who's heads they push underwater. I'd never be a franchisee to a corporate.

Interesting thing about BT, if you look at a 5 year chart of the share price. 5 seperate spikes in value, very rapid but thrn declining almost as quickly. I reckon each spike is 15-20%. I cant remember the story behind each one but i am pretty sure a graph of the actual performance would look like a gradual downward slope. Why does BT attract these bubbles?

Eaxh to their own but I'm holding this stock for a couple of years. I'll even use the divi to buy extra. There is a long ladder of growth ahead.

Agreed. We hear "business transformation" from companies so often, but frequently they become mired by flawed thinking. Vodafone seem to me like they are opening the right doors, which means transformation could become market leadership

Fleccy you are so wedded to your original investment ideas that, when faced with flaws, you go all conspiracy theory. That's a dangerous attitude. I've seen you pretty much proclaim your superiority to all and sundry, chanting out this blinkered mantra about "fibre being here for the long term so BT can't fail". Or words to that effect . While the bit about fibre is true, the bit about BT-cant-fail is most decidedly not true. But you can't see that. So if BT are not performing, you blame it on shadowy figures seeking somethingorother. You've duped yourself and you've probably influenced others to buy at the top end of the bubble. I feel sorry for them as they are likely stuck in negative territory for some considerable time.

By the way, smartypants, I've also spent decades in telecoms and I'm a qualified Cisco engineer.

The glaringly obvious bit is that the BT Share Price went on a steep upward curve from £1.50 without results to back it up. Maybe £1.50 is too low. There was an article that Im sure everone has seen about "crossing the line of death". In that article it suggested a bottoming out at £1.65. Somewhere im that area anyway. The share price is on a downward trajectory and this is where investors look for signs of strength. But all the positive signalling is set in the future

I dont think its about any of these things, nor us there a "game" going on by some svengali behind the curtains. The simple fact is that all the hype aroubd futures is irrelevant. The valuation today is of a company shrinking but doing okay-ish-ish. The SP is dropping because it formed a bubble from around £1.50 and rapidly gained 30% without having 30% worth of improvement on current results. Its so glaringly obvious. Never mind what BT is gonna do. Whats happening just now? Shrinkage and a tricky budget coming up. The natural value is £1.50 and thrn any improvent in performance should be met by similar incremental rises in the SP

By cost cutting i mean the underlying cost of running the business. In Vodafone's world this means staff rationalisation, some disposals (mostly done), joint procurement ventures to buy at greater scale and AI. Everyone in the industry is driving down cost. As i said before, cost reduction only counts as value if revenue isn't declining. With BT it is, and all you can point to is something that you hope will happen in future. And it is hope. The BT network will be built but you dobt know how well thats going to match the market. Theres no divine right of kings here. At the moment, BT is shrinking. Thats a straight fact
