So saga has just reached 11.5% of its float price (£1.85 = £27.75 in new money) - well done....!!

Also, I've just discovered that investment trust Isa's are reliably delivering 10% growth pa (eg L&G Global 100) so good to diversify and keep this hand-picking fun under control. If we get early signs of a positive vaccine effect I may add a few more LLOY to average that one to 40p. The divi on that one could easily amount to 8-10% within a couple of years (based on 40p). But no plan to increase my SAGA holding.

Going all in to Saga would be ludicrous. it only takes a new vaccine-resistant variant to sink this to sub 200 new money.
My average is 700 but I mentally can't average down having experienced the battering over the last 18 months, ie pre-covid things were not healthy. There is the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel, i admit. Luckily I made some good recovery on HFD and WMH last year to offset these losses. GLA

Lloyds Banking Group PLC - London-based lender - Chief Financial Officer William Chalmers buys 1.0 million shares at 26.87p, worth GBP268,700, on Monday. On Friday last week, Non-Executive Director James Lupton also had bought 1.0 million shares at 26.2 pence, worth GBP262,000.

It would be good if 20p old money (£3) becomes the new baseline. A period of calm before (hopefully) a steady climb North.

Re FTSE vs Dow
I started a £100 month UK tracking ISA around 4 yrs ago. 15 months later I started a £100 month US tracking ISA.
Earlier this year US tracker had caught up with UK. Now it's £1000 ahead.
Should have put £200 month in US at start - have learned an expensive lesson.

The SP spike to 25p (old money, £3.75 in new money) on June 8th was probably leaked insider information re that offer, and the fall back in the days after reflects the news it was rejected out of hand. I was tempted to sell then but was too tardy.
Even at just over 8p (old money) i can't bring myself to add - still damaged by Flybe and this has so many parallels......

Consolidated price = 9.7p (bloody hell)
To return to float price the SP needs to hit £27.75 per share.............

Was in these at the float and lucky to sell a few months ago at 240 (though missed the 280 high). I planned to sell all my shares and go into tracking isa's. I have just bought a few today and last month at an average 150. If still in this low range I'll add monthly. There should be a large demand for their self contained student flats in this pandemic. GLA

Reality is that we should have a vaccine and treatments within a year. This virus event should be once in a lifetime. If the insurance business keeps Saga afloat it could find itself rebooting its cruises with a lot less competition. It can also do sensible things like insist every passenger has to have had the vaccine. Rocky road ahead but not impossible for success in 3-4 years and a restored SP of > £1. Optimistic, possibly so :)

Bloody Hell EC, have you bet every cent on Halfords? No matter how hard you try you can't talk the SP up or convince anyone here to invest.

The Tories have been bank bashing for the last 12 years - who'd have imagined it from a Capitalist party? As for the dividend I can survive without since I still work (for the NHS). I understand that some people (my mother included) have modest pensions and a few shares (left by my father). It helps her pay for some bills. My point is that pensions aren't being reduced so on the whole pensioners are largely (financially) unaffected by this pandemic. But there's a massive proportion of the popuation that are hurting. I'd like to see our CEOs, rich footballers agreeing to a big pay cut. We should all make a bit of a sacrifice.

I'd love them to cancel this years divi and use the money for sensible bargain acquisitions that will present very soon. Better to grow than just subsist. It will benefit the SP in the long term - who knows maybe even up to the magic £1..............

A caveat is that 95% of their stock comes from China - could be a big problem in their supply chain. Also people are not driving their cars or going camping. This is just to balance your upside. I'm a holder too so want recovery as much as anyone.

What I meant was negotiating a delay and maybe extending the repayment terms (especially on the river cruise vessel which was only ordered a few months ago). I agree people will need a holiday but doubt cruises will be viable until there's a vaccine. Also, how low will the bottom be on this share - silly question but it's so cheap now it could get taken out - even if it doesn't go bust.
