Bumble, I have no doubt that it would be much better to see the whites of their eyes, but I'm rather doubtful that they would agree to hold such a meeting. However, there might be more chance of getting a reply to a well written letter.

chippy, rather than asking for a meeting, which I suspect would not gain approval from AFC, and probably only a few shareholders would be able to attend, would it be better to put together a letter on behalf of the shareholders in the "group" who are agreeable, asking sensible and pertinent questions, and seeking equally sensible and pertinent updates on a selection of important issues where we believe that updates are considerably overdue?

I agree Jim that the replacement diesel generators should be a massive market. In my mind this should have much greater, and earlier, potential than the EV chargers, but we hear less about the gensets than the EV chargers. Not sure why.

As I understand it, that is a wrong statement. If they are referring to methane reformation from natural gas, then it is not cheap, and it uses a lot of electricity.

It is being led by W2T, as developer, and they are actively seeking funding at the moment, supported by Peel. I believe that W2T may be looking for a partner to take a share in the SPV company (JV) that will be used for this project.

They can probably make more revenue selling the hydrogen for vehicle fuel than using it with a fuel cell system to generate electricity.

The following extract from the planning application lodged by Peel / W2T for the site at Protos would indicate that it is not PHE's intention initially to use AFC's fuel cells to generate electricity:

"Six gas engines would be installed as part of the facility. The engines would convert the syngas into electrical energy for site power with excess electricity exported to the Protos micro-grid which will serve other business on Protos or export electricity to the local electricity distribution network via the Protos sub- station. The gas engines would be specified and modified to be able to run on the syngas composition produced by the facility."

Of course there may be situations in the future where such a relationship might be viable.

Although some of the used tyres are shredded and used for other recycling purposes, I understand that a lot of the tyres go to landfill, and because they are not allowed to landfill whole tyres, they have to be shredded first. So for that portion of tyres that are shredded and landfilled, presumably they have to pay a landfill fee. So PHE might be able to take the tyre crumb for free, or even charge a fee lower than the landfill fee.

Having said that, I seem to recall that DR said they would not be using tyre crumb for feedstock, but would be using plastic initially at least.

I believe that we will end up with a mixture of hydrogen vehicles and EV vehicles. EV for vehicles doing short journeys and who drive mainly within towns and cities, hydrogen for the long runs such as lorries and vans, also private cars who do a lot of long journeys.

That seems very likely. DR previously said that they would start with 25tpd and then upgrade to 35tpd, but latterly they seem to be going straight to 35tpd. So it could well be the case that they had to make changes to their detailed planning application.

I agree BB. I think that once the owners/operators of the DMG system go to the trouble and expense (which is not inconsiderable) of purifying the hydrogen to fuel cell standard, the critical question will be what will produce the most revenue, selling the hydrogen as a vehicle fuel, or using an AFC fuel-cell system to produce electricity for the grid, or micro-grid. I suspect the answer will be vehicle fuel.
