The golden lane in one of the reasons I'm so keen on the JHI acquisition. If you look at the latest prospect area map of the Canje block it identifies 7 areas that contain prospects.

From the latest Stabroek discoveries and prospects map we can see that two of these prospect areas are particularly interesting from a Golden Lane perspective. I have added them in red to the following map.

Area 6 appears to be right next to the Golden Lane with one of the Stabroek prospects extending right to its edge.
Area 3 however, looks even more interesting as its southern section, which I have shown on the map, looks to be right in the Golden Lane. Notice that one of the Stabroek prospects actually straddles the licence boundary into our Canje Block. We don't have a name for the prospect yet, but given the rate Exxon is drilling exploration wells, we shouldn't have long to find out.
We were told in Monday's RNS that, 'Canje ... holds over three dozen prospects in four proven plays in the Lower Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous confined channels, Lower Cretaceous Carbonate structures and, with recent drilling of Sapote-1 well and Stabroek discoveries, now offers the opportunity of yet deeper horizons.'

That equates to an average of over 5 prospects per prospect area before adding the deeper horizons. How many of them are in these two areas? I really can't wait for the JHI deal to complete so we can get our first peek at the Canje CPR to find out. Gil and the BOD are no doubt well aware of its contents, and have decided to do the JHI deal.
If we look at the discoveries already made on Stabroek Block we can see that they overlap all over the place. The entire block is a veritable carpet of discoveries overlapping one another and stretching around 175km with scarcely a break. I find it hard to believe there won't be at least a couple of targets in the southern section of Area 3, which would put us with Canje drilling opportunities right in the Golden Lane.
The median discovery size on Stabroek is around 400 MMB, so assuming the same prospect size for the same play type, that would be 70 MMB recoverable net to ECO for a single discovery.
Things are starting to get extremely interesting for ECO. Well played Gil.
