All those workers beavering away on all those applications, on the 300 kW version ? creating schematics and making efficiencies and improvements. The phone bill alone for the discussions with a European company that MAY carry out certification must run into thousands, after all they've been discussing it for years.

Another waffle statement but I don't think anyone can be fooled now. Obviously many of you will be locked in and just have to pray but it's abundantly clear that this ride has come to an end. John Gunn can bury this story and walk off with 5 Million + from OCT. The Charger will never be seen and you can only speculate as to where all the money went ? As said many times FLOW all over again.

Inspirit Energy Holdings plc, the AIM listed developer of micro combined heat and power boilers, is pleased to announce that it has raised £365,000 through the placing (the "Placing") of 77,659,570 ordinary shares of 0.1 pence each in the share capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares") at 0.47 pence per Ordinary Share (the "Placing Shares").



The Company announced on 15 June 2015 that it had commenced construction of its first verification boiler and that it intended to ship the verification unit to Enertek International Ltd. ("Enertek") (www.enertekinternational.com) for testing the unit's conformance with the European gas appliance directive. Once the unit is accredited under this directive, the Company intends to commence field trials. The proposed placing will raise working capital to fund the company's development through this phase.

RNS 17 July 2015: John Gunn, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, will participate in the placing by investing £75,000. Of this investment, £50,000 will be invested by Global Investment Strategy UK Limited ("GIS") which is a 100% owned subsidiary of Octagonal Plc (OCT) of which John Gunn is Chief Executive Officer and 52.44 per cent shareholder, as a conversion into Placing Shares of an existing loan, and £25,000 will be invested by John Gunn directly in the Placing.

Mr. Gunn kindly used the money from the mugs at OCT to fund the INSP dream.

The statements are always very positive forward looking, the only trouble is they are never carried through to completion. Have a read through them, there are plenty to choose from. As I mentioned Thursday - RNS 29 March 2018 looking to proceed with certification and here we are about to enter 2021 .... the outcome of that RNS ...nothing. 3 long years and they can't even agree with a company to carry out the certification. I'm sure the companies that carry out this type of work are happy to snatch off your hand for the work and the money, so the sticking point must be at the Inspirit end.... nothing to certify ! Nothing about certification in the last product update, that should give you a little clue as to where this is heading , along with your dosh. What chance of developing complex state of the art, more powerful Stirling engines for the proposed new applications, with that record of failure. It takes experience, IQ, determination, good research and experimentation and lots of money. Inspirit have none of these, they are paid-up bodgers and poor ones at that.

Are you prepared to risk it Oldblue, do you think you are going to be a millionaire - really ? If John Gunn has something worth having, you can guarantee he'll be helping himself to your shares for as little as possible.

The more I think about this statement the more I don't understand it. If your are enhancing something you are adding or improving it i.e. making it better. Are we supposed to believe that all the applications are at the enhancement stage ? The Solar, Marine, Auto and the 300 kW 'thing' have been researched, designed, materials sourced, units built and tested in a few months since announced. Come on John Gunn this is stretching things just too far, you haven't even launched the Charger yet after 10 years. You don't have any certification for the Charger, you've been taking to a European company that MAY carry out the process for 3 -3 -3-3-3-3- looooong years. Inspirit's investors may be some of the biggest mugs in Britain but the rest of aren't.

What industrial WHR systems are going to benefit from a paltry 6.4 kW ?

You had better buy lots and lots and lots then. You will become a millionaire!

Netzeroready: For a company with no product to sell and who have demonstrated their inability to commercialise an already existing product in 10 years of bumbling attempts, somehow I doubt it.

Many others are slowly getting the message, the charger is dead. A new Sterling engine will have to be designed from scratch to produce a decent electrical output for the WHR applications proposed. For example Eqtech are talking Mega Watts, the old Inspirit 6.4 kW isn't going put a scratch in that. Mind you there is a lot of talking in this game !

And you base your silly ramping on what ?

Once JG gets his hands on the Oct 5 million, he can take INSP private and bury it for good. Alternatively he can close down the operation and sell off the Stirling engine to another startup which OldBlue will invest in once again. Farewell the Charger.

NO news that the first unit was ever built.
NO news that certification has been finalised with the European company
NO news in fact that anyone is going to carry out certification
NO mention of any testing taking place whatsoever.

All in all, apart from perpetual design improvements, there has been no progress towards a launch of the Charger. Most worrying is the last product update when the Charger wasn’t even included in the product update, the product now appears to be the WHR system !!

Around 2014, the company developed a household boiler that fed back electricity to the local distribution network. The boiler, which was available to customers from early 2016 but never appeared on general sale, provided heating and hot water whilst also generating low-carbon electricity using its patented MicroCHP (Combined Heat and Power) technology, in which waste heat evaporated a low-boiling-point liquid to run an interlocking twin 2D scroll-shape turbine generator. The boiler was not economically viable. Questions regarding the reliability of the boiler were raised, but never answered following little evidence of any significant installations having taken place. Projected figures for installations proved overly optimistic.

The boiler was manufactured by Jabil Circuit Inc, an OEM manufacturing partner.[16] The boiler was designed in Capenhurst near Chester and manufactured in Livingston, Scotland. In July 2014 the company opened a research, training and development facility in Runcorn, Cheshire, where Gas Safe registered engineers undertook surveying, installation and aftercare training programmes to become accredited installers of the Flow boiler.

However, by 2017 the boiler became uneconomic in the British market after reductions in government subsidy via the feed-in-tariff scheme. The company had previously used VAT as a reason for the boiler being not economically viable. In April 2018, Flow sold the assets related to the microCHP business to iGEN Technologies Inc. of Canada.

The WHR system utilises Inspirit's proprietary Sterling engine technology, and its compact nature enables it to be positioned in the exhaust system after the catalytic converters with the energy being directly transferred as an electrical output. During the demonstration, the novel three stage heat recycling process increased engine efficiency by approximately 20%, driven by waste heat from e.g. a Volvo Penta D13 series engine.

I took this to mean the Inspirit technology increased the Volvo D13 efficiency by 20%, I guess many people did because it's worded as such. As I have explained that leads to the conclusion that the Stirling engine roughly, very roughly, would have to increase output by 16 times and the entire Stirling would also increase hugely

So we can discount that theory, thus the 20% increase in engine efficiency has to be the Inspirit’s Stirling engine efficiency and we are none the wiser as to what it achieves for Volvo !

Since the efficiency of a Stirling engine is the difference between the hot and cold ends then what this statement actually means is, we can put a lot more heat into the Sterling from a Volvo D13 than we normally put in from the Charger's combustion head. That’s not surprising since a 700 HP engine will produce enormous amounts of waste heat.

But, It’s one thing to model more heat going in, it’s another to actually get it in efficiently and also to deal with the problems higher temperatures create !

Another RNS that gives clarity a wide berth !

Oldblue: I also note you talk of a boiler and a Charger as if they are two separate things.

The Charger is a standalone unit, ready to go, the same as if you bought a combi boiler. Yes you can add a separate hot water tank. I have said several times for the Charger to be useful it needs separate storage.

Why have a boiler and a Charger.

Oldblue: Although everyone is quite fond of calling the Charger a boiler IT ISN'T. The term boiler is simply a hangover from the 'old days' There is no great big tank of water being heated by 'the burner' Heated water comes from the necessity to keep the cold end of the Stirling engine cold. Therefore water is pumped through the system and heated by the waste heat from the operation of the Stirling, the 'system' could be home radiators.

Ask yourself 'how much water is contained in a typical home combi boiler.

NOW tell me where the water is ?

Oldblue: Lets be clear, the Charger i.e. the product consists of two major parts

1. The burner section where gas is burned and heat is produced.
2. The Stirling engine, converting heat from the combustion into motion.

Where is the water ?

350 kg x 2.2 = 700 lb

For the Volvo application subtract 200 lb for the burner section, voila 500 lb for the engine.

In a previous post I explained that a heat exchanger would be placed either around or in the Volvo exhaust to capture the waste heat. No one is suggesting a 3.6 ton or even a 500 lb lump of steel is placed inside the exhaust, totally blocking it !

The electrical efficiency of the Charger, from Inspirit’s information is

6.4 kW/18 kW = 35.56 % output electric energy/ input energy

18 kW input power because 2 kW is lost, giving an overall efficiency of 90%
