Being played by an old pro?14 Nov 2015 20:06
Was it LseLee or Luckyman who phoned Capt Shead a few weeks ago and reported that he was outraged and totally indignant at the suggestion that he 'misplaced' the phrase "very near future" for ulterior motives..
Whichever one of you it was, you then went on to say his reaction was real....but now you are doubting this yourself, as facts of time outweighs emotion? Fair enough.
Ruby has elicited the same response over a period of time and now Aimtitan.
Seems the old South African skipper has mellowed with age..maybe he knows we're about to receive something special, or maybe he's just reconciled to the wait
Or maybe he's playing a canny old game, regards first RAB and ongoing Darwin. Without interest of a near-term resolution, this could have dipped quite sharply, but with the ever present and contemporaneous carrot of "very near" there's always buyers around to pick up the sells (approx 3.9-4.1p)
If he is playing this game, I don't blame him, but would be a tad naughty, if admittedly canny. He realises, I'm sure, that all those phone calls will be reported back on here - and then passed to other boards.
Anyway, in the final analysis, I suppose it doesn't matter much (as long as we don't lose!). There's really only 3 ways of judging this bet as a good one..
1) The ongoing Gibbons holding, as I think he might be getting a knowing smile or frown from above (god I mean)
2) Calunius backing, albeit the risk has already been taken, win or lose, so that's almost a retro reinforcement
3) Shead's own shareholding, but I'm not so sure he would know enough anyway to sell - and , if he is a loyal old fashioned gent, maybe he'll hold anyway and go down with the ship.
Good luck everyone.
Hopefully next week
(woof, please resist the temptation to hound, thanks..shake hands, all forgotten)
