RE: IG8 Jan 2019 09:46
Good morning, alfNdor. Beware the grass isn’t always greener. I’ve had a number of accounts with a variety of providers over the years, indeed, I still maintain accounts with three different providers for separate reasons. However, imho, IG provide - by some considerable measure - the best platform available. I do have the facility to link separate accounts (cfd, share, isa etc.) which is obviously a benefit, but, for me, no other platform comes close for functionality, data, charting and selection of markets. I understand that a custody fee can be a frustration (and many providers have introduced these in recent years), however, in IG’s case this can be waived if you only trade times across any and all of your accounts during the quarter or if you have an account value worth £15,000 or more across your IG Smart Portfolio.
Obviously I don’t know your level of experience, but, it works well for me because trading once a month is not an issue even if I didn’t qualify by account value. I certainly wouldn’t encourage you - or anyone for that matter - to consider sophisticated financial instruments that aren’t appropriate, however, with a CFD or SB account, a quick in and out on an index or rising share could help one meet the required criteria.
Good luck.
