RE: some reported "facts"22 Jan 2019 22:09
Hi, dt. I’m sorry to read of your current disillusion, and far be it for me to advocate any particular course of action, however, these are the times an investor ‘earns’ their long game rewards. As you well know, I have held shares here for a long, long time now, and comparatively speaking, I see the current situation as yet another bump in the road. You will also know that I have often cautioned that this investing lark isn’t as easy as many greenhorns might presume it to be. Yes, we can choose our investments cautiously; yes, we can research them thoroughly and diligently; and yes, we can delay any gratification or reward. It is when we feel despondent though - when we question the very nature and validity of our decisions - that we put in the hard yards that can bring the rewards.
If (when your current mood ameliorates) you look at your previous decision making dispassionately, objectively and without too much self criticism and still determine you were wrong in your choices then you will know what it is you should do. However, if you can do that and you can still see just how far the company has come, how much has been achieved - both on the ground and in other business (such as proving up the product, marketing, relationship building etc.) - and how despite the obstacles yet to be negotiated we are on the cusp of something tangible and long lasting, then you will more than likely realise that where you are now is little more than a bout of entirely reasonable introspection.
As I stated when I started this reply, it is not for me to tell you what to do. However, having experienced myself the emotions you convey and where they suggest you are now, I can give you an indication of what I would do. And right now, that would be very little. There may be some minor oscillations in the share price over the next few days, but, unless you think you can accurately read them - and so trade them - then a watching brief would be wise. Or better still switch off to them entirely. Take time, take stock and keep your powder dry. As you suggest yourself, it would be prudent to hold off on any additional buying for now. Buying opportunities do come and go, but, as we are now seeing they do very often appear when you are not expecting them. It would be reasonable to surmise an equity component will form a part of any future fundraising, and as evinced by how you are feeling now, that will have an impact on other shareholders and the decisions they take. That could be your time to strike.
With best wishes,
