What is the definition of Net Debt?

Net Debt is the sum of all Short Term Debt, Notes Payable, Long Term debt and Preferred Equity minus the total cash and equivalents and short term investments for the most recent reporting period.

The revenue for 2024 and 2025 are from Stockopedia. They remain around £1.8bn.

What makes you disagree with Stockopedia's Net Debt figure of £133m for Boohoo?

T4g - you have to remember PLT was valued at about £300m for the last 30% or so of it. It certainly wouldn't be worth anything like this now, in my opinion.

Your article is from 2015 and so any valuation from back then could be well over the top.

T4g - the market cap is determined by the supply and demand for Boohoo shares. It's the share price which determines the market cap and nothing else.

Net debt is the level of debt remaining assuming all cash and equivalents were used to immediately pay off debt.

Please note that a negative net debt number means more cash than debt (i.e. net cash).

Some industries may have more net debt than others; therefore, investors often compare a company's net debt to others in the same line of business.

It is usually considered as a ratio versus the total assets of the company.

Scb - Boohoo haven't got to £4bn revenue. Their revenue is about £1.8bn and looks like it'll stay around these figures for at least the next two years.

Plus, it's not revenue that matters to investors, its yearly rising net profit and yearly rising net earnings per share for a business like Boohoo.

I prefer independent figures from analysts to company figures from salesmen looking to sell the company in a better light.

Consensus estimates are for a net loss of £17.4m for year end 28 February 2024 and a small net profit of £5.3m for year end 28 February 2025.

Ebitda is seen as nonsense and bull**** earnings by some of the best investors.

Okehurst1 - According to Stockopedia, Boohoo have £133m net debt.

T4g - Considering Tesco owned DunnHumby it could put any figure it liked on it including £1bn. I would take this with a large pinch of salt. As well as the £10 per record quoted by yourself. Unless I can see actual evidential proof linked to statements like this, then I don't take them seriously.

Looking at the recent annual report, I can't see any figure being given to DunnHumby or Clubcard.

T4g - Dunn Humbly - Founded in 1989, the company uses customer data from retailers’ check-outs to understand customer behaviour. Tesco became a majority shareholder in 2001 and bought the company for approximately £93m in stages over the next nine years. In 2010, the retailer forked out £48m on the last 10%.
