Large automated buys this morning, more likely to be shorts closing. GSA who runs opened a short most recently are now underwater, so let's see how they try and buy back their 1% short. Could be tricky

Also I have read so many times on these forums that MA is lending out his shares. If you believe this is a power play with some corporate action on the horizon (which I do btw), he will definitely not be lending out his shares. A lender of shares lose their voting right to the ultimate buyer of the shares and that won't be MA if he was doing this. In the case of a takeover bid for example, he wouldn't actually have % control of the company represented by his shareholding and could well lose the takeover battle if other shareholders don't agree with his valuation for example. Seems like a silly thing for him to do.

There will be a break point and that is when you definitely don't want to have sold too early.

Firstly, the RNS only accounted for the trades up to 12th Oct (Thurs), so there could well be another RNS coming this week if he buys more, given 17mm shares traded on Friday. Also, shorts increasing by 0.34% doesn't nearly account for the total shares traded on Friday, so wonder where the rest came from.

You can't say just because short interest is at 7% there can't be a short squeeze, just like you can't say guaranteed short squeeze at 20% short interest. It depends on how much is actually trading, and 7% of the current shares outstanding is v large vs the daily trading volume. Secondly, you are competing to buy back this stock alongside the largest shareholder who is bidding aggressively here.

BUT, this likely won't have a short squeeze for the simple reason that only two of the short sellers have an average entry in the 30p and 35p range. The rest are well above and won't be forced into closing their position. It might get a little tight if the share price climbs to 35-40p because those two short sellers will need to find c15mm in shares to close out. That could become a little painful.

Market reaction feels more like a sell. These were large ordinary sells, so not an algo short seller. But also means there are a decent number of shares now in the wheelhouse to flip to MA. Suspect we see a late afternoon bolt again based on this info.

Or MA changes his limit buy order higher, that will also have the same effect. Lets see how the afternoon unfolds

Given how little has traded (which is a good sign generally) means unlikely to fulfill an MA bid. So this could just be stuck here today unless we see fresh selling from a short sale or market makers just move this higher to try and find more shares.

Yeah agree here. Every time they take the b/o lower in order to maybe generate sales and satisfy the MA bid, the bigger the risk that someone else comes in and takes the shares off their hands (even if its just retail). And it seems we are getting to that biting point where even 1.5pt falls on the bid side doesn't lead to any traction. A big bit of bad news would surely send this lower, but just don't know what that can be now on top of everything else. Similarly just a small bit of good news and the opposite is true and maybe with a squeeze given shorts in the 30-35p range.

Tree shakes only work for so long, the majority of current holders not selling at these levels. As we have all seen, the results, guidance, broker ratings, sentiment all as low as they can go, yet sellers not appearing at these prices. Not to say this should be at 60p but the market makers will have to move this higher and suspect even MA will move his limit level higher too once he realises he has exhausted the market at these levels.

Forget the fact that you only seem to quote the lowest share price prediction of all the brokers at any time, why do you think this is being held artificially high? If that was the case, the buyer wouldn't exist. Who wants to buy at an artificially high price??

The fact we are back to 29.5a means the order size wasn't filled, so they are looking for more sellers. Probably a rinse repeat tomorrow once we open.

These MMs don't have enough shares on hand to fulfill the MA bid, so they are tree shaking all day and poor retail sods are taking the hit. Time to just sit tight and wait it out.

The share price is playing ping pong between these two levels, and sellers are supplying MA with more shares.

I am not too worried about fundamentals right now, as everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, and even the guidance was negative for the next 6mo (if anything, it doesn't take much to prove some of these guidance numbers wrong in the right direction)

A daily close below 28.5 and that would definitely worry me around near term share price action

A daily close above 31.54 and that would be the start of a re-rating, imho, just given with all this negative news, guidance, rating downgrades, if it couldn't break lower, not sure what news would lead to that happening.

I am optimistic but this share has been volatile to say the least.

I think the bigger picture is being missed right now. Yes the fundamentals have not been great, hence why this has been rolling down for sometime. Technically speaking, aside from MA, there is not a huge or consistent buyer out there and he seems to have a limit level in the h20s/l30s, so market makers don't want to jack up the price too much and not be able to sell into that bid. Instead they are going for the retail suckers who get jittery on these market moves, only to see their shares land in MA's lap. This can last for sometime but not forever. If you don't like the share, either go short or go and invest elsewhere. If you do like the trade, just be patient. I can tell you even though my average is 37.5-38p, it's still hard to watch, but gotta look at the probabilities now and see the risk reward.
