EVR is a money maker, I haven't bought previously because I didn't see a bargain, at under 55p it was silly cheap so I bought.
I'm not a 'pennyflipper', I rarely trade stocks, I tend to buy and hold, reinvest the dividends, and at some point in the next 2 years will take the dividends as additional income.
This is just one of 20 stocks that I have chosen to give me a spread of risk, and all were bought because I see value at the SP I hold at, this is however by far the biggest bargain stock I have aquired in nearly 30 years of investing.

I don't think I've seen such wailing and nashing of teeth when a stock has gained 18.7% before.

Around 90p on the offer, and 87p on the bid.
It will then be ups and downs all day with a finish somewhere above 75p mid price.
In all honesty it really does not matter unless you are day trading.
Just write off Russian assets/income and value 10% under whats left, and I doubt you will do badly over the next 5+ years, probably much sooner.

This gains 18.7% in a day, and people are whineing.
No one buys a stock solely on the dividend, or at least they shouldn't.
Super high dividends are always traps.
Buy on percieved value and you will be happy.

Because no one pays a dividend that high, its no great surprise.
The question is do you see value in the price you paid, thats all that matters.

I ignored the dividend, bought for value. If the div gets paid its just a bonus.
Being an interim div, it can be cancelled or reduced right up to payment later this month, if the SP drops it drops, 5 to 10 year range I think its a no brainer.
I took the view that if I just right off Russian assets, do I see value in what I paid. I did so bought on the 3rd March.

I do wonder if some of the green energy companies may at some point merge or be aquired by larger companies, it would I suspect provide economy of scale and improve profitability.
Large oil companies are looking to improve their image and increase exposure to renewables, I do wonder if aquiring a well managed renewable might be a sensible option.
I think there is little doubt that renewables will be an ever growing sector in this decade, with many opportunities.
This particular stock has certainly rewarded me well for my investment over the last 12 - 24 months.

I don't believe SSE would merger with BP or SHELL. There are a lot of smaller yet stil profitable renewable energy stocks out there, and I think it more likley that in time those smaller energy companies may get swallowed up by larger companies like SSE.

Along with LGEN I don't predict my portfolio will ever be without these stocks.
I intend to add around another 1000 shares in SSE this tax year, mostly from dividends, so I see them as free moving forwards.
I predict SSE will see strong growth this decade.
The only real cloud I see is increased overheads for maintainence, equipment and labour, due to current economics.
However over a long timeframe I see these as a drop in the ocean.

Maybe, but ULVR are hardly the darling of the markets right now, and I suspect the major holders and BOD of GSK are party to more information than I, so I choose to trust them.

I appreciate this is a KOD bb, however since the subject has been raised by others.
I'm not going to lecture or berate you but in the interest of education suggest you research what percentage of EVR assets are in Russia, and what nationality EVR falls under. As for those invested in said company, I am not certain that without hindsight they should have been able to prevent certain large share holders from opening those positions.
One might take the view that by making profit from Russia, one is exploiting it to a degree.
As for KOD needing further funding, I think thats highly likely, its absolutly normal for a company in its position to require such funding to reach its potential and should not be viewed as a negative event. Were a company not be able to secure funding is a different matter entirely.

I would suggest buying at the top would tend to indicate she was not financially acute, and buying low is a shrewd move.
Which person of those two versions of her do you prefer to be in her current position within the company?

AMANDA BLANC buying a lump like that can't be bad news, I doubt she would throw money away on a poor investment, there are plenty of other stocks out there.

A couple of buys from insiders is a good omen.

For myself, I'm not concerned as the recent falls I think relate specificall to current events and their effect on markets in general, not specifically anthing related to the stocks performance. The ship will eventually right itself, just might take a little time.

As I've posted befor this is a good (relatively safe) rock to help anchor any portfolio. It's never goint to fly but it offers a reasonable dividend and helps protect capital. I think there is a place for it in any portfolio, its not exciting, but its solid.
I must confess I'm surprised not to see more money moving into this stock.
With current events, I see this as a very good play.

You misstake my meaning, its a near term investment of capital, not an expectation of near term returns.
I don't buy any stock I don't intend to hold for the medium term as a minium, and for me that means 5 - 10 years, most of my stocks are long term holds, i.e. 10 years plus.

I must confess I'm surprised not to see more money moving into this stock.
With current events, I see this as a very good long term play, offering a reasonable dividend and what I percieve as growth potetential in the years ahead.
The only cloud on the horizon is the increased cost of equipment, labour etc. when constructing new sites, and debt.
But overall I see this as a solid play.
