Prior art is any evidence that your invention is already known. Prior art does not need to exist physically or be commercially available. It is enough that someone, somewhere, sometime previously has described or shown or made something that contains a use of technology that is very similar to your invention.1
how can you patent something that has been commercialised for nearly 50 years?

5. Observations of the Technology
CAP-XX Limited develops and commercialises technology in the field of supercapacitors which
has, and which should continue, to give rise to technical innovation in respect of the structure,
composition, form and performance characteristics of the supercapacitors, as well as the methods
of manufacturing the supercapacitors and in the application of the supercapacitors to electronic
circuits especially in portable electronic devices. As is noted in this Report, CAP-XX Limited makes
use of formalised protection through the patent systems to seek protection for selected inventions.
Our observation is that, in addition to the formalised protection, CAP-XX Limited retains as
confidential other commercially relevant information such as know-how. We are aware that
CAP-XX Limited has also obtained a licence for patents in a complementary technology where it is
perceived there are longer-term benefits in doing so(2).

into three categories, specifically:

Still admit to being lost in the reading of these patents...this claim confuses me and i suspect many others.

i once posted on here that i have read and reread regarding Cap-xx patents and admitted i do not understand them....
i consoled myself with the reading of an article that explained they are very very complicated to understand...so my hats off to anyone that claims they understand them!
but i was under the impression that AVX licensed our patent because it covered a different way of stacking/layering?

Dont think cap-xx are/will be suppying the electrolyte to AVX. In one of the interviews AK stated AVX required nothing but permission to use cap-xx ip. Also the Sydney manufacturing (where the recipe is produced)is only geared up at the moment for less than 1m units per month. Happy to be corrected.

I just see it as we cannot as yet oven solder. This must be a big influence in the decision making on 10m+ devices. Will be a barrier to any mass produced items. Just my opinion and why i am so interested in what happened after the samples were sent in 2015.

Well i listen... Valid points imo .....why did Samsung not choose Murata....they use their batteries and the bluetooth module....why not? I have my opinion as to why not just wondering what others thought?
