Japan, China back coal despite Paris pledges

Despite both countries' commitments towards carbon-neutrality, Japan is the world's top lender to the coal industry and China is its leading underwriter.

It was not the Chinese government that would be funding plants in BD, it was never stated that was the case by the company, but as I've posted before Chinese banks are big underwriters, altogether different, nothing has changed there.

Funding for Coal Projects
For those stating that funding for coal fired generation is not happening. Well based on the article below, itself from a ECO publication (so it must be true)- according to coalexit.org funding for coal projects has actually increased since the 2016 Paris Accord.

'While Chinese banks account for less than 6% of total lending to the coal industry, they account for 58% of underwriting. Through their underwriting, Chinese banks channeled US$ 467 billion to the coal industry over the past two years. Next in line are US banks (US$ 104 billion), Japanese banks (US$ 59 billion), Indian banks (US$ 36 billion) and UK banks (US$ 35 billion)'

This post is just to reflect what is really happening rather than what some would have us believe, however it's unlikely with NFC and Power Chinas' commitment to the project there will be any issue re funding the project itself

...and why would I do that I am not looking for reassurance you are....if you are able to post on here it would indicate that you are capable of writing your own emails or making your own phone calls !

In General
I do my own research, how do I do that, I read the RNS's in detail, I read the Bangladesh Press and Energy Trade Journals, I read International Press articles, attend AGM's, I keep in communication with the Company, I speak (literally) with other shareholders, I use google and google alerts and I make my choices as a consequence.
When folk post actual facts, quotes from RNS's , press articles with links if I feel like it I may respond. When its plain as day that a poster hasn't done basic research, ie reading the companies communications I'm not going to do that research for them, as many on here always say DYOR (do your own research).
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and its easy to criticise , in the post that has promoted this reply I could easily turn the question round and say is there any evidence that funding will not be made available for the project.

Was just thinking about how endless PR from vested interests and lobby groups can get through even when u think you have a pretty solid opinion. Over the past 6 months or so there has been a lot of mentions in various countries press (not just BD) about how China was moving away from coal, would not allow non green projects in the belt and road initiatives. Well I came across this article today in the New York Times, very interesting reading, as are the comments about size of coal generation in China and its coal mines feeding them...yet even with their huge coal resources they are importing coal on a massive scale (one of the reasons BD is having to reconsider some of those coal fire plants that were going to operate on imported coal is because China has bought up all the output from Indonesian coal mines for the next 3 years see references in previous posts). So of late I begun to wonder were theses big Chinese Mining and Energy Generating companies going to have to tone down Coal powered electricity in emerging countries, well this article would indicate that China has no intention of stopping or even slowing coal fired generation any time soon, and if they aren't doing it at home they ain't going to be lobbying it anywhere else either. One thing they are on top of is better technology to reduce coal power emissions.

The Paris Accord allows leniency for developing nations, lenience on CO-2 and China, as massive as its output is, still falls within those allowances. Bangladesh is massively within .
I feel much more confident now than ever that this will go ahead in conjunction with our huge Chinese Generation and Mining partners

To put this to bed once and for all SEIA figures of cost from December 2020 are that the cost of installing 1MW from solar is between $820,000 and 1,360,000 multiply that by 6000 and you get a cost to generate 6000MW of between $4,920,000,000 and $8,160,000,000. Thats $4.92 Bn to $8.16Bn, plus it takes 5000 solar panels to generate 1MW of electricity 6,000Mw equates to 30,000,000 solar panels whats the opportunity cost of that in covering agriculture land with solar panels. For the ill informed Phulbari is over 400km from Rampal in the Sudarbans, No mention of Pollution from the Calcultta area of India at less than half that distance to the Sudabarns Press releases from the 20 member Phulbari Solidarity Group are utter Tosh, just because some small group issues a press release doesn't make it fact, on showing up at Phulbari market the locals attacked and sent the ant Phulbari project communist agitators from Dhaka packing.

Hi Flowkey, the charts and price movements I referred to are facts, look yourself, as for Bees, I know him personally, as I do several who post on this board, when you've been here as long as me and attended as many AGM's as I have it's fortunately inevitable, as far as my continually agreeing with Bees, I just did some research for you and I made reference one time that I can find to Bees and that was in May last year simply to say he wasn't well, which sadly is still the case, no matter what you think of him, he, like you, is entitled to post here. For what its worth I like Bees as I do Phulbari, who I have also met, and is totally the opposite end of the spectrum on this board but is also entitled to post as he sees fit.
TBH I'm not bothered if you believe anything I say on this board, I rarely say anything other than post articles, or refer to charts and prices, definetley averse to belittling other posters , we are all human and as such prone to making statements we sometimes regret later. I try not to as I have to answer to myself , I feel OK about this post and wish you well in your life journey. Stay well

Going back further 18th April 2016 2.15p to 23.95 in a day. Of course it can drop too, in Feb 2018 it went from 42 to 22 overnight. I'm a holder because little more downside here imho but lots of potential for the upside.
But as always DYOR.

Looking at the chart from November 2018 to January 2019 reminds me much it can rise in days and weeks 11p to 68p in 8 weeks
