Freddie you are missing the point!
With the questions we have all asked SD the MD and decision-maker of this stock, we get a lot of answers as to how his mind/preferences/ strategy is working. From this we deduce more clearly what likely or unlikely outcomes are/will be/ can be ...and from this we make decisions as investors on our own preferences/strategies/exit strategies or more investment strategies.

Which way it goes is in more hands than just Newmonts. You build a picture of who wants what outcome and then base your investment strategy on intelligence.

I might give up explaining the theory behind intelligence and questions shortly but just trying to help with some reasoning behind research!

With respect if one is seriously invested in a stock then one has to ask a lot of intelligent questions in order to deduce or get the answers ...and then decide if it is a strategic pathway to earnings on your investment, not a guessing game or waiting until you are simply told!

Depends how much skin you have in the game I guess as to whether you simply guess...or learn by asking the right questions!

The bottom line imo is that Shaun potentially has all bases along with his board, covered.

The reality is; that if goal posts (like Telfer/Acquisition. New Ownership/ New plant/etc etc) now move, and it is an ever- moving feast here; then you will need to consider moving your exit or investing strategy here along with the new or different goal -posts.

But is IS exciting!!

Folks if it gives you any confidence at all around the question of 'uncertainty and being 'mothballed' then take heart from this as I did:

When put to SD about our wait for the DTM his answer was similar to this:

' to my mind that decision was made when we started and opened the mine in Feb 21'

Mark we could feasibly mine without either he said. But his preference would be to have both in place and he will insist on a DFSin this case anyway.

I think the bottom line is that though we could still be bought out theoretically , if we are then it will be a good price if Shaun is our negotiator. This was my early days opinion and impression but if left to GH it would have been 10-15 p max

Shaun wants to go Ming. He wants a multi asset company and we either go a,ing for the rollercoaster ride or we bail.

Simple but complex. Plus the stakes are higher and with high stakes comes a higher risk. But take your choice and then stick with it !

Re Shaun Day and thoughts some have voiced here about his leadership and current share price.

Just my own views here and feel free to disregard them. But along with all of us I’m disappointed at the current SP and it’s decline over 2 years but quite honestly , I’ve never seen an MD work so hard and fast to,build (and in fact after GH ‘s departure and resultant badly managed jv agreement and lack of cash in the till plus sale of almost 100 m GGP stock ) and actually REBUILD a company to the extent and at the pace he’s doing it !

HE is not the Messiah but he’s smart, dedicated , money savvy and hires the best with no qualms about working all the hours to put this tiny company on the map !
I haven’t seen this amount of work rate achievements or transparency ( as best he can relay ) and vicinity in many leaders to date. I hope this bodes well for our future and can only hope and believe he’s the man for the job.

I suspect there’ll be a few more twists and turns before we see the SP lift but ultimately I’m pinning all I have on him and it !

A few more facts and thoughts :

- we are amongst the top 50 list of mines number three I think with lowest aisc ( all in sustainable costs ) which makes us valuable
- that SE crescent alone with its high value grade of gold will cover many of our costs on extraction some months after we hit the orebody in March 24/
- when pressed on why Newcrest are playing us down to press he said it’s a head scratcher but they’re also doing that with red Chris which equally doesn’t make sense
- he seems happy that it helps our current positioning to keep Hav in a low profile. ( read from that info what you want ! We did !)
- he’s busy positioning more new instos to come on board
- he has talked consistently of world class asset in Havieron but also how’s talks of at least 15 years and probably 30 years of Hav mine life. That to me indicated a bonafide tier 1 asset which puts up in super league mine
- Scally pathfinders indicate good future finds but his drill strategy is slow but sure and measured amount of holes and pace as costly and part of a drill programme. It costs millions to pepper with drill holes. (Slowly slowly catchee monkey !)
- his CFO breeding makes him I believe the man to guide us through this literal minefield of big boys currently calling the shots. He has bought in hugely wealthy partners to assist our pathway to. Bigger future.
- I doubt imho this pathway is for the faint hearted but ultimately it depends on your appetite for risk & bigger rewards in the end.
- it’s getting exciting !

Well it certainly was a well attended and informative meeting and will need to lift brain fog this morning and add to this later but here are a few of the salient points I gathered from Shaun :

- anything could happen after Newcrest who are deep in play with Newmont eventually reveal their outcome
- to me and imo Newmont will take over and merge with Newcrest
- Shaun is well placed and well positioned along with his circle of steel to manage any of the various scenario outcomes of that
- he has high regard for Newmont and is currently managing the relationship with Newcrest politely quietly and agreeably as it serves his purpose to and it’s a jv
- my view is that he would bend over backwards ( and in glee ) to buy 100% Hav and Telfer if a package. If not Telfer then he’ll build our own processing plant
- dfs in or by August in accordance with Newcrest. If they don’t release by august he will release his own but at this point prefers alignment with Newcrest.
- We will be fit with an ASX compliance listing by he thinks June & remain trading as a London stock but ASX will bring in Aussie instos and good for us
- ASX entry requires a 20 cent minimum entry point and tho not his first preference we may well share consolidation at between 3 or 12 times
- accretive dilution is his only preferred dilution and value add by acquisition or expansion is his rationale and to me that is the way to go. Imho.
- I think it clearly means longer wait to wealth accrual but should be worth it
- I believe there are very good reasons for SD to appoint his circle of steel and they are I believe working on a master plan that may not suit all of you short term but will create that multi asset multi billion company he’s gunning for.

Again I would think there cannot be huge news to report unless another RNS announcing so, legally and the concentration may well be on events to date and on Scally news etc unless a new RNS on results or something else, comes out in the morning or later today.
However there is so much to discuss and if more news tomorrow all the better! The TH events are in any event a way for SD to expand on happenings as opposed to new news that must be circulated in advance! They are really worthwhile.

Now this is pure speculation .. and possibly fantasy in my eternally optimistic mind … but imagine if Scally was actually our ace in the pack … and what a card to keep in our clutches at this point ; what timing …

Maybe more than just dreamland. Anything can happen in this mine field ….. thing is if it is an ace … it’s OUR minefield !
