Hi MS I've literally just this second listened to the interview - great news and hopefully we can get the 2 that we had provisionally booked for Havieron cracking on Black Hills. Exactly as I see it MS. Also remember a comment from Lenigas last year that said NC have their own assay labs at Telfer. As they are now drilling to prove it up for themselves would they use these labs or would the samples still need to go to independent labs in Perth fur analysis? If they are using their own labs then this could be really fast tracked. Paddy

Hi MS I was wondering how many holes they are doing"concurrently" - I'm assuming they are drilling more than one at a time. This campaign could be over in weeks rather than months Paddy

Great news and as was said sightly ahead of schedule so shows that NC are not dragging their heels and are going full tilt. Love to know how many holes they are drilling concurrently and i wonder if we'll get the visual intercepts RNS as we did before. This and other potential updates should keep the traders on their toes in the coming weeks. GL to all holders - Paddy

Just as an aside - I noticed that Mick Sawyer is referenced as the competent person at the bottom on the last 2 RNS releases about Firetower & Black Hills.

Is Callum taking a more hands off approach now or do you think he is likely to be in cohoots with Newcrest on the Havieron planning and therefore other projects have passed to the new man?

If that's the case we should be due an update any day now about the survey and probably a couple more to inform us that drilling has kicked off in Firetower & Havieron.

Do you think we will get an RNS on the updated 3DIP results at BH or will they just progress straight on to the drilling?

He also has incorporated some links to pdf reports from previous explorations at the prospect - the Range River Gold one is quite interesting reading.

From all the reports it seems that lots of drill targets were generated over the years but they were all put on hold pending further detailed surveys and therefore no drilling has taken place here since the 90's from what I can ascertain (stand to be corrected of course).

GGP will have had access to all this historical data and now armed with the 3DIP survey (using the latest tech available) there should be a fairly high probably of success with the drill.

The other thing is that GGP are concentrating on the Saddle Reef area but from the historical data it looks like there are other areas within Black Hills that warrant further investigation also.

I was reading through this Sprott research note again at the weekend and here is a link to it for anybody new who hasn't had a read of it yet.

It's worth remembering that this was released on the 14th January before the assay results were in for holes 6-9 and obviously before the farm-in with Newcrest was announced.

Last night I was just flicking through the presentation to find the bits relevant to GGP but I have had a listen this morning to the entirety. It is well worth a listen as DJ says - it highlights Newcrest technical capabilities especially in recovering high grade ore at depths using their innovative block caving techniques.

The graph that he presents shows that Newcrest have the only 2 orebodies with ore reserves in excess of 15Moz. Well I remember SB stating a while back that GGP management were convinced that they were targeting in excess of 10Moz @ Haverion.

With Newcrest starting their "very comprehensive" drill program to "aggressively" prove the size of the ore body then I guess we shouldn't have too much longer to wait and perhaps we will be the third 15Moz orebody on the graph in the next presentation (fingers crossed)

Agree 100% Mickey When the CEO uses phrases like "very large drilling program" and "aggressively drill the ore body" then it pretty obvious how bullish they are over Havieron. Interesting that he also mentioned "other" high grade prospects in the Paterson. Not by name but surely referring to possiblity of BH, Scallywag and our other as untouched 20 prospects in Paterson East. Just need to sit tight and be patient. GLA - Paddy

Ok I've listened through the relevant sections a couple of times and highlighted some of the salient points.

Next month there will be a "VERY" comprehensive drilling program to prove the size of the ore body & that it can be mined economically

Paterson area highly prospective with the new thinking about geology and depths

Telfer had the capacity to process other high grade deposits that may be found (BH, Scallywag, etc)

How many million tonnes of HIGH grade ore per annum will Havieron supply

Havieron has the potential to increase the grade at Telfer from less than 1g/t to 3-4g/t

Overall I think that the CEO came across very bullish about Havieron and therefore the future prospects for Telfer and remember Newcrest will have had access to all the detailed analysis, downhole surveys, etc that us PI's are not privy to.

Obviously nothing is proven until the drills are complete and the results are known but one thing that is certain is that Newcrest ain't going to be kicking their heels on this one - It's going to be fast & furious once they get cracking.

I guess it would be good for everyone in that area - RIO has a lot of other ground in the area either directly or in JV with Antipa. It would make sense for them to have Telfer so they could truck ore from any discoveries on these as well as Havieron, Black Hills, Scallywag etc, etc.

Anyway it's all only speculation until we find out for definite one way or the other.

I see the Newcrest CEO is due to give a presentation on 14th May at the BAML conference in Barcelona.
You can download a copy of the presentation and the briefing pack from the Newcrest website and apparently you can watch a webcast of the presentation by clicking on the link on that page on Tuesday also.

I've downloaded the presentation to have a browse through and looking at Newcrest's capabilities for reef, sub-level & block cave mining then it was a no-brainer for them and GGP to team up on Havieron.

Also on page 24 there is a slide dedicated to their farm-in agreement with GGP so I'm assuming that the CEO will be including a section in his speech about the possibilities that will entail.

I can't tune in to the webcast on Tuesday but if any of our regular contributors could and feed back then that would be great.

Greatland Gold PLC ("Greatland") has announced they are soon to kick off exploration at their Black Hills prospect in the Paterson Province in Western Australia. This follows on from the exploration commencement at the Firetower Project in Tasmania and very soon the much anticipated Havieron exploration programme recommences.

Of course the huge news during the Quarter was the Farm-in Agreement with Newcrest Mining (NCZ.AX) ('Newcrest") over the Havieron Project. Newcrest has the right to acquire up to a 70% interest in 12 blocks within E45/4701 that cover the Havieron target by spending up to US$65 million (circa £50 million or AUD$90 million) and completing a series of exploration and development milestones in a four-stage farm-in over six years.

Clearly, the farm-in by Newcrest supports our belief that the results to date make Havieron one of the most outstanding Gold/Copper projects globally. It was pleasing to be able to get our shareholders exposure to Havieron before Newcrest.

We believe recent share price softness in Greatland is simply a function of market impatience and short-sightedness. I was asked recently by a shareholder why Primorus bought its shares in Geatland. The simple answer is because we believe the share price will appreciate substantially and that the market is asleep to the opportunity before it. With exploration kicking off now across multiple projects we hope to soon be proven correct.
