Nobody knows what will happen to the market, if you are so confident the market will fall then take out a short, otherwise stay invested, dipping in and out will only cost you in terms of dealing costs and you are more likely to miss a rise than a fall.

Remember as well that the share price is meaningless, you also have to take account of the dividends that have been paid and also look at in context with how the total market has performed as well as what inflation and interest rates have been.

Yes, if you are sensible then debt is not a bad thing. I know lot of people who gloat that they have paid off their mortgage but I am happy to pay less than 2% interest on my mortgage and keep my money in shares which make, on average, 10% +.

To be fair I have done very well with my investments and don't need government handouts but there do seem to be a lot that take plenty and don't give anything back.

I'm not convinced by the new world order theory but I will look in to it before dismissing it.

I finished work due to ill health but I am not entitled to any benefits because I have invested my money rather than spent it on flash cars etc. But others who have frittered their money away are do not want to work are entitled to lots of benefits.

Agree. Neil did appear a bit more reasonable over the last couple of weeks but he does seem to have reverted back to his old self.

But Smithy you said 400 by end of September, please explain why it is still above 500 as you are such a smart investor.

GIO, you do seem to panic at the slightest thing. I always invest for at least a year and do not worry about daily fluctuations and noise, buying and selling more frequently involves more dealing costs which quickly eat up profits, probably why most day traders lose money.

DEVONPLAY, ignore HERESHOPIN, he gave me a similar load of vile abuse when I had the audacity to criticise a share that he was invested in. I think he has anger management issues.

Thanks EATSTOCKS, I bought at £1.47 based on positive momentum at the time. Then there was the poor management update last March and it's all been downhill ever since.
I tend to hold my shares for 12 months and sell so it is now time to sell CPI. I may buy back if they show good momentum at some stage in the future.
I never have more than 5% of my investment in any one share so the loss on CPI hasn't been a major issue for me. I have made up it for it with gains in other companies. If I win more than I lose I'll be more than happy.

I have been very successful investing in shares over the years but when friends ask me for tips I always decline because you never know what is going to happen (especially with AIM oil stocks). Overall I make profits on about 65% of my investments but I've had some dogs in the 35% that have lost and I would hate to have other people's losses on my conscience.
I don't really get involved with AIM shares although I have had a small gamble on GGP, SNG and NCYT and made fantastic % profits. I think this is down to good luck rather than good investing.
My only advice is to be well diversified and never have more than 5% invested in any one company.
