Why ?

My strategy is based purely on momentum and works very well for me, I make on average about 20% per annum. I hold the shares for 12 months and then sell. I make profits on about 65% of my investments.

After I sold MAB I purchased WMH which I was lucky with because this was soon the subject of a takeover so I made over 50% in about a month.

I also purchased POG which was not so good, currently down over 20%. However the last time I purchased POG it nearly tripled in price.

The share price will already reflect this.

I did sell at 160, I didn't say it was a useless opportunity, I said that there were better opportunities out there. I bought back in because the momentum changed.

"I NEVER SELL AT A LOSS".
This is a very bad strategy with no logic attached to it. You must be prepared to accept that you will make mistakes and cut your losses before they are too damaging.

People worry too much about small daily movements, I hold for at least 12 months and don't worry too much about daily or even monthly movements.

I am still attempting to understand the logic of this.

I now think the impact has already been reflected in the price and that the price will not be impacted when the shares are actually issued.

There is therefore no benefit of selling the shares now.

SODER, thanks for your kind words about my "stupid" trade but I don't think I'll pay much attention to someone whose main investment, a dodgy AIM stock, is down 43% in the last 6 months.

HELLYEAH, I don't regret any decisions I make, I accept that I will not call it right all the time.

Dan, you don't know that CPI is about to "breakout", It might, it might not. The fact a share has had great recent gains doesn't mean that it can't have future gains. Momentum is probably the best strategy in investing.

WILDCAT, I agree that oil stocks are risky but potentially they could have big rewards. As for AIM stocks, I wouldn't invest a serious amount in them even though I've been lucky with GGP, SNG and NCYT.

It seems too good to be true. Why hasn't everybody sold their holding whilst it was above 210p and then buy their allocation at £2.10.
Why would anybody buy shares now knowing that the value is bound to fall in the near future?

I have invested here based on recent positive momentum. I'm a bit overweight now in miners having done very well with FXPO and RIO.

I have invested here based on recent strong momentum. Hopefully I will have a bit more luck than with my last investment in PMO.

I've finally bailed out having suffered a painful 71% loss. I will be glad to see the back of PMO, I lost 34% the last time I was invested in them.
I have reinvested in TLW, out of the frying pan in to the fire !
