We're going to get shedloads of these RNS's now we're in a bid situation,

Think these are market-maker dealings - bought and sold the exact same number of shares.

And then 20-25-30p in another 6-12 months.
Holders will need compensation for giving up those gains.

Nobody will accept 15/16p because it's going to be that price within 3 months or so anyway.

Lots of ifs there though. Problem is there is no such thing as a guaranteed short-term bagger. What you're describing is called thrashing your account and making your broker money.

Would help if the company could keep up the pace of the newsflow/PR, so we avoid a repeat of the usual spike and drift (and drift).

Doesn’t look all that great if you look at the numbers. Just 760oz gold produced last quarter at 1g/t. Less than 50% recovery. No AISC published (wonder why). Surprised they haven’t gone bust already.

Nicked from another board (credit 74tom). What was that about Chinese low-ball offers? Don't think many would turn their nose up at 32p/share:

Opening bid was at a 75% premium to the 20 day volume weighted average price and they ended up paying nearly double that after a protracted bidding war. Minimum 20p I reckon. But I do agree with Tornado that none of the potential offers being acceptable is a fairly likely outcome. A win/win for shareholders from the current sp either way though.

Probably better to ask what would a reasonable offer be that's likely to be accepted. Clearly any offer that doesn't reflect in full the expected value increase over the next 3-6 months due to Singida and WK won't be accepted. It should also be higher than that to reflect the loss of the longer term gains for current shareholders. Yes have to take into account the expected risk to that value increase but at the moment that looks very low.

If all offers are crap then they won't be accepted by any of the large holders (of which there are many) and directors surely, especially not with all the un-recognised progress being made on the ground, Singida coming on stream with a couple of months etc. So I don't see how there is a downside in today's announcement.
As for Chaarat they would clearly need to raise cash as part of any RTO which would come from a placing there or third parties etc. They obviously aren't going to offer to buy SHG for £10m or whatever their current cash position is. For all we know they could be connected with the Chinese parties behind the scenes.

Tornadotony has a history of making these hot and then strangely cold posts on here. Could he possibly be a trader and sold when the RNS came out? Hmm.

On the other hand the best time to buy a gold mining/explo company is before a booming gold market. Hopefully with what appears to be at least 3 separate interested parties we'll get a good compromise.

The Board of Shanta Gold Limited ("Shanta") notes a recent press article and confirms that it has received approaches from Shandong Gold Group Co., Ltd ("Shandong"), Yintai Gold Co., Ltd ("Yintai") and Chaarat Gold Holdings Ltd ("Chaarat") which may or may not result in an offer for the Company.

Chaarat have a £75m market cap, so I would guess this is 3 parties acting in concert, rather than separate parties? Unless CGH are intending to do a reverse takeover.
