So Advance have an interest in a very small part of the area, which doesn't include the two prospects with resources.

Btw I'm assuming the trial now being 'active' means the actual trial is now starting i.e. the patient recruitment that started in July has reached its target.

You don't hedge customers' shorts by going long you charlie, you hedge customers' long positions by going long.
By accepting long/short bets from customers Spreadex effectively take the opposite position - they hedge this risk by mirroring the customer's position in the market.

These are options to buy 5M shares, they're not giving him the shares for nothing.
The interesting question is what has triggered this.

It depends on the length of the extension, but I think the chance of any further extension is less than 50%. I reckon over the last 3 months they are likely to have found the time to do the small amount of remaining work that was remaining to complete the collaboration.

I understand that but I still think its strange that he avoided even mentioning the project by name, almost as if he didn't want to draw attention to it.

Good podcast overall but I notice AP completely avoided mentioning Blueberry, which I find suprising in the current gold price environment. Any thoughts on why this might be? Are there any questions around VAST's rights to that project?

I think these are rather better than anyone expected.
