It can have the exact opposite effect for what happens is that short positions deliberately manipulate the price down into the close to get cheaper pricing in the Uncrossing Trade auction. Market makers also do likewise if they are short on, or short of stock.

Interesting day all round in that for once comments off MM on Linkedin have actually resulted in a rise in the share price rather than the customary fall they normally bring, albeit with some downward pressure being exerted into the close.

Probably more to do with the hedgies having loaded up off recent falls and it being primed to rise in any case.

So what actually do we have? Funnily enough todays 6% to 9% rise at one point is actually off the back of a post whereby MM and his family complete a deal to sell the property they own and in which THG is actually based as a tenant. Presumably they have profited hence why they are celebrating. So nice profits for Matt Moulding, wife and kids - but Nil profits whatsoever for THG in the slightest. In fact probably this conflict of interest has in all probability been the reason for the delayed circular.

Yip we got told that the circular should be coming by the end of the week which is in the timeframes we already know but on the other side of the fence is it effectively ruling out any counter bids for THG Ingenuity

That's my opinion and how I'm interpreting things.

ITM Power given it has fallen more than most, is probably due it's own 10% to 15% rebound day in line with the others you mention. The market tends to blanket hit some sectors across the board with scant regard for what progress the company has made, it's cash position and what it actually has going on.

6 Directors all very recently bought shares in ITM Power with their own money and were happy to pay between circa 40p and 42.29p a share for the privilege and that being in the knowledge I suspect that ITM is incredibly well positioned with bases in both Germany and the UK and the right contacts (Linde, RWE, Shell) to pick up significant business off the back of the following two key pieces of information.

Germany having green lighted a Green Hydrogen Grid for the full country.

Agreed on the part the market doesn't need an RNS every 5 minutes but could that be the same market that was happy to wait that took the 49p placing price down to only 38p and gifted everyone the opportunity to top up just last week.

That seems to contradict all that you say.

This share is moved not by Institutional support for there has been none of recent but moreso by short positions and them manipulating the share price lower to pick up substantially and then to raise it back up sell into any rise, and then rinse repeat. Imvho.

Weird post really if you knew the Warehousing had been up for sale for the best part of the year and with Warrington Council loans behind it. No doubt still some profit in it for the Moulding family so pleased for the family in the wider sense, but nothing in this for THG itself where he has been CEO and where friends, family, colleagues and employees and shareholders hold shares and have endures the share price going in completely the opposite direction under his stewardship.

It does leave you asking though why on earth sell the warehousing now when you had endured all that's been stated? and things are now just coming out the other side?

Sadly no longer buying those cryptic statements any more and we need to see the Circular by the end of the week to keep to the widest interpretation of time frame statements made on the Ingenuity demerger.

Strange how everything seems to have coincided with and seemingly waited for the sale of the Manchester business park.

My question. Would we actually have had the demerger earlier and might it actually have been another division had MM not been the landlord and CEO, and technically conflicted?

The ownership of all THG properties reads like a complete tangled web and lead weight and in all honesty could do with full clarity on who owns what moving forward. So proper informed decisions can be made.

ITM Power gets it's chance to update and speak to the markets.

Then we get to see if recent falls have been merited or if not then does it rebound quickly back up to the 50's and 60's.

The RNS tab above for most recent news, and recent Linkedin posts off ITM Power and Dennis Scultz, as well as the German National Hydrogen grid having been given the green lighted and 11 Green Hydrogen projects gaining £2 Billion finding at the Budget, as well as 6 Directors buying all tend to point to it being the latter.

But it's your money and your choice and dyor.

Probably paves the way though for MM repaying Warrington Council somewhere between £151 Million and £169 Million that it loaned him out of a £202M loan facility that was made available. He must also have been paying them commercial rates of interest on those loans, amidst the rising interest rate environment of previous years.

When you delve into previous articles on the ownership of the THG properties it has imvho always has a murky and clouded in secrecy air to it and never with full disclosure given, and all hidden behind offshore holding companies. The FT.com spent a lot of energy trying to uncover the full arrangement but even after going through the Information Commissioners only got a redacted version from Warrington Council with key details omitted (dyor)

In all honesty it is probably just re-opening up a previous full can of worms that analysts actually flagged at the time of flotation as a conflict of interest.

If the Guardian article is correct he should still be the landlord of several Remainco properties.

I wonder if this will all be made clear in the prospectus? Probably not.

Being pragmatic about the full debacle now I honestly don't think the prospectus will be published until after Black Friday for another ill-timed judgement.

Extremely disappointed and much more to say about it than that.

Last years update was on the 4th December.

Nice opportunity for the Board to update the market on what caused them all to buy shares.

It's not just the likes of one fund selling that can impact the price but if the Market Makers have wind then they accentuate the falls.

Here I think there may be a few funds drip feeding shares into the market via an algorythm to either punish Moulding or to get it as low as possible. Perhaps not happy with what is going on. Take away any real buy side and you can see how it can fall quite easily. Add short interest across the back and there's all your ingredients in the one place.

Not helped by constancy of delay and they have only had 2 years to pre-plan and to get to this point.

Not going to argue with that and S4C has been an exceptionally fruitful trader for me.

The unfortunate thing Yiab is that I really don't see it being much different @THG Ingenuity where I have no doubt MM will be working his socks off to advance the best position for himself, so highest stake possible, golden / final say if possible (as landlord and largest shareholder), Lucrative remainco contract nailed down, Executive perks and including such as personal security clauses for himself and wife and children - that's even though he is not Chair or CEO.

I think many would simply prefer him out of the equation full stop on both companies.

Name me another CEO that has presided over such a catastrophic fall in a share price and is still in position. It's a serious question.

It would be an interesting straw poll to see if those who voted for him at the AGM would still do the same.
