Newdealz, I was always "on board" however I am privy to both sides of the story with this stock.
Surely shareholders should be banging the drum for a NO vote in order to maximise their returns and I believe that they may get their wish very soon.

profitseeker, I am attached to a mail centre. The VR exercise was expected to produce 10,000 applications and there was an additional £6k if you signed up before the deadline which was New Year's Eve (I think) and were a successful applicant. These are the employees now leaving the business. According to our local management, the exercise produced in excess of 30,000 applications nationally.
I watched some of the CWU live event from Portsmouth this evening where Dave Ward was attempting to sell the deal. Lots of negative comments so it's not a done deal by far and certainly not a landslide unless there's some vote rigging going on. It looks as though a yes vote could result in a three tier workforce going forward which could be interesting for the van sharing?
So that leads me to a question. Would shareholders prefer to see a yes vote on June 7th or would a no vote be more beneficial?

I'm not sure what your source of information is but I think that you will find that I'll health retirement is capped at 34 weeks pay so probably better to go sick for six months on full pay followed by six months on half pay?

The business initiated a massive VR drive just before Christmas. These senior posties won't have left the business without a payout. Our early shift is giving a "golden goodbye" to around twenty posties tomorrow, all on VR terms and all with a minimum of twenty years service. The next batch of eighteen posties will be taking VR in three weeks time which will leave our early shift with a skeleton crew from Tuesday to Saturday.
This will have cost the business a pretty penny however the good news is that it's all accounted for as a one off cost. The SP will remain unaffected.

AngerSharkz, the CWU reps call this morning was "listen only" so no feedback from the reps today as they will have their say in a couple of weeks time at the face to face meetings.
Interesting to note that "certain elements within senior management" did not want an agreement and it was only when they were removed from the process that an "in principle" agreement was reached. I wonder who they may have been referring to?.....lol
I don't envy the outdoor reps having to sell this steaming turd to the troops but c'est la vie as they say in Wimbledon.

Apologies but I cannot locate this specific reference within the Postal Services Act 2011.
Section 44 states.....
44 Review of costs of universal service obligations
(1)OFCOM may from time to time review the extent (if any) of the financial burden for a universal service provider of complying with its universal service obligations.
(2) In carrying out a review under this section OFCOM must consider the extent to which, in their opinion, the provider is complying with its universal service obligations in a cost-efficient manner.
Section 45 states
(2 )OFCOM must determine whether they consider it is or would be unfair for the provider to bear, or to continue to bear, the whole or a part of the burden of complying with its universal service obligations.
There's lots of other stuff in there as well but nothing about relinquishing validity of the act because it's uneconomical.

casperdog, it's only "overstaffed" because of the USO.
If the business can get this reduced to say three days a week for letters and four for parcels then it could probably shed around 40,000 delivery posties. KERCHING.

I would hope that both sides are fully aware of the consequences of a no vote being returned, however the worst case scenario that I have heard from either side is 10,000 job losses (which can be achieved by natural attrition and is well on it's way to fruition anyway), potentially removing the RM brand from IDS (kerching for shareholders) and special administration for the USO parts that RM deal with (good luck with getting away with that one Thompson).
Neither side has mentioned RM closing down or the cessation of business which is strange as surely that is what should happen?

The UK operation collapses, the buildings are closed, staff sent home without pay and the administrator/liquidator is called in?

The regulator gets involved and makes changes to the USO?.....or doesn't because after all we have a Tory government in place and they're not keen to get involved with anything.....lol
Or
There's a stunned silence.
One thing is an absolute dead certainty is that you will not be able to alter the outcome of the vote and I can only have 0.000009% sway on the outcome.

AngerSharkz, the whole point of yesterday's message was that I don't know for sure and neither do you or anyone else on here regarding the outcome of a no vote. You have some ideas based upon a fairly solid foundation but can you be a hundred percent positive that it will pan out that way? I'm not saying or advocating that a no vote will be the best outcome for the majority of the workforce however it is currently still a possibility until the outcome of the ballot is announced on the 7th of June and the fact that the CWU have held a national meeting for territorial reps, a national meeting for unit reps at 8am tomorrow morning plus a planned raft of online webinars in top of the weekly bombardment of media from the business itself tell us that both sides are desperate to get a yes vote over the line.
One thing is for sure. A no vote will raise more questions than answers.....for both sides.

It hasn't"planned out" yet and that's what is so fascinating.
Admittedly a yes vote would see things turning out rather predictably, however a no vote would throw the cat amongst the pigeons and liven things up a bit and I suspect that there's quite a few delivery posties that don't want predictable and would rather roll the dice......

It's interesting to see that the potential outcome of the vote has captured the imaginations of some posters here?
Lots of posters trying to get their slant on how it's all going to pan out in the event of a no vote and the fantastic thing is that nobody knows for sure as this is potentially uncharted territory so any of us could be correct?
It's almost worth hoping for a no vote just to see what will happen and who got their prediction correct.....and who got it horribly wrong.....lol
I'm not really a fan of popcorn but I will put a bag of the unsalted microwave stuff on the shopping list....just in case.....lol

PP, since Royal Mail struck a deal with Zenith to provide lease hire facilities for staff (which also reduces tax liabilities) our staff car park now resembles a Tesla dealership......lol

On a more cheerful note, it's nice to see that the Royal Mail Pension Plan have been able to award a 7.25% increase for 2023/24 and the Royal Mail Statutory Pension Scheme has been able to award an increase of 7.1%.
A one year, no strings award. Nice.....

I'm with you on the voting though. It's like seeing the sign that says "whatever you do, don't press this button".....and you just know that some can't resist doing it just to see what happens......lol

So, having read quite a few posts on here regarding the vote, it's obviously going to be a win-win for the shareholders but what's the better outcome for the long term and short term?
A no vote and potential administration could be a lengthy process before the business is sold and rebranded or are there any other potential outcomes here plus how would this affect the SP in the short term?
A yes vote would obviously push the SP upwards but which would produce the greater return over the next twelve months?
From looking at the CWU social media and the mood in the local delivery office, I'm getting a feeling of no confidence in either the union or the BoD and a no vote looks more likely but it may be different across the country?
