Gotta admire your positive outlook but when was the last time that this stock rose 30% in a week? Even at its lowest price iof 124p in early April 2020 it only managed a 14% climb within ten days. I think that a climb to 260p within a week in current economic conditions would be very unlikely?

"Shareholder Value"..... depends upon how you view it really? For me, the last true shareholder value was during the first lockdown. I wasn't able to release enough funds until the SP hit the 150s but within twelve months the price had tripled. As Paul Daniels once said "now that's magic!"

Always looking for shareholder value however I think that the SP could drop a little lower......to help us poor pensioners out.....lol

JB, AngerSharkz, "social media reality" is a strange thing. Some posters on this forum claim to have had posts on the official CWU FB page removed? I would imagine that the posts didn't fit the CWU narrative at the time.

Unfortunately, social media is "real" however that doesn't necessarily mean that it's true? TikTok anyone....lol

Also regarding your comment "RM want and need a workforce that literally goes that extra mile,or this company is never going to thrive" this has been mentioned many times by the current CEO however I wonder how those "trust in the doorstep" comments would translate into cold hard cash for the business? What is it actually worth?

AngerSharkz, you don't have to be in a "radicalised militant camp" to have an opinion on the CWU?

As you have posted many times, this is an open forum for debate.

Whilst we are on topic and for what it's worth, I also posted (late last year possibly) that the actions of Ward and Furey could potentially cause a fissure in the CWU that could potentially see the top table ousted in favour of an even more militant structure especially if there is a lack of communication from them.

It's not something that I am personally in favour of, just echoing the mood music of what I am hearing on my travels as there are many delivery posties who are equally as angry with the BoD as they are with their union.

Another thing that I would mention is that many CWU members that I meet are seeing the potential for a more streamlined union structure that would be quicker to react to flashpoints.

AngerSharkz, If you are going to go that far back then why not bring up the 1971 postal strike, or the 1964 strike or indeed the 1890 strike?

There have been numerous strikes by UK postal workers over the last 120 odd years so this is par for the course and part and parcel of being a shareholder? The current dispute isn't the first and it definitely won't be the last.

Redceo, looking back (no pun intended), perhaps Rico was the better option as he had been previously successful with setting up GLS and was also a current employee who knew the business.

AngerSharkz, the UK operation has only had three CEOs, (since privatisation) Greene, Back and Thompson. Personally, I thought that Greene was moving things in the right direction but then her tenure came to an end and the business has struggled.

Rico Back was ousted for several reasons. It's true that the CWU were against him, however, we the shareholders have to hold our hands up here? His £6m "Golden Hello" wasn't received well by most shareholders as he had been a RM employee for the previous twenty years. Couple that with the fact that the UK operation was incinerating cash (even before strike action was mentioned) and you can see why he stepped down.

Anyway, given his options, I would have done the same.

AngerSharkz, this type of faux pas has been going on for years/decades and seems to be an ongoing process of self harm. The current situation regarding the parcel machines started before the pandemic however the UK operation failed to get to grips with the issue and are now paying the price..

I'm not sure if RM are now in the position of being able to appoint a top CEO who has the ability to rectify the situation but if they carry on the way they are then it's not looking great?

In all honesty, purchasing ten thousand cheap Chinese plastic snow shovels isn't going to break the bank, however it does highlight the UK operation's thought processes?

Once again RM have purchased third party equipment and skimped on the additional items that are on offer and make the operation more efficient in pursuit of deploying it's own solution which generally ends up costing more and providing a worse outcome anyway. I'm not sure if this is commonplace for all large organisations but perhaps it is?

JB, I have it on good authority that the Head of Engineering was tasked with making the original York containers compatible with the new parcel machines? Apparently, the original canvas red sleeves with their sprung loaded bases were trapping smaller items as they were automatically tipped so it was decided to convert the sleeves to rigid plastic but the downside is that the OPGs elsewhere in the operation now have to bend down to almost floor level in order to retrieve the smaller items from the base so cheap Chinese plastic snow shovels were quickly purchased.

Goldfinger, I don't believe that we have anyone who swings the lead that much where I work so it's hardly surprising that the business wants to knock this on the head as it's a py$$taker$ charter.

Staff will pick up injuries from time to time with slips, trips, falls, dog attacks, RTAs etc... especially on deliveries and as the workforce gets older then there is more chance of illness through disease especially with the increase in cancer rates and the fallout from the pandemic and these need to be managed and documented correctly instead of being punished but I don't think that the hangover brigade can be catered for much longer?

It's not so much how much loot he has but how he influences the RM BoD going forward and whether he can move things forward at pace.

Goldfinger, I think that you probably meant to type 13 days (5+5+3) and not 23 days which would trigger a stage two warning, especially without a GP certificate?

I also have to say that there are/were only a small percentage, perhaps less than five percent who pull this type of stunt and I always thought that it was a failure of management to pull these regular lead swingers into line.

Estimated savings on sick pay are, I believe, set to be around £250m, however with an ever decreasing number of workers (not just RM) falling into the disabilities act catchment especially following COVID then I can't see the situation getting back to pre COVID levels anytime soon?

Just released from the CWU.

The employer has accepted the need for a joint statement and more importantly, a set of agreed actions on these issues. It has also agreed any statement will be launched via a joint zoom meeting of every manager and CWU representative in the UK.

We are meeting the company again today and will report on any developments. We are fully committed to getting this matter resolved in a timely manner to enable the ballot to commence but it is absolutely crucial we get this right - for members, customers and the future of the company.

I'm not hearing any noise from my union sources regarding even the remotest possibility of ballot papers being sent out. Apparently Ward and Furey are still holding firm that the culture and failed revisions need to be changed first.

Don't forget that even if the ballot was announced today the results wouldn't be in for at least twenty four days after the announcement at the earliest. This would assume that the membership list is confirmed as up to date by reps, the papers are printed and ready to go out, postal delivery time plus three weeks for staff to vote (in case they are on holiday) plus of course the ballot facilitators to issue the result.

In the meantime, this stock is going to float around on the general flotsam and jetsam of the stock exchange because it's in the doldrums.

Newdealz, if you can pick a penny or two up daily or every other day and are happy with that then good luck.
