Over the last fifteen years, the Tories have put in ever increasing restrictive measures to ensure that workers do not strike. The latest ballot tested and passed all of these restrictions and is legal. If there was even a 1% chance of not meeting all the "rules" then the IDS lawyers would be all over this to get it squashed as has happened in the past.

Are you seriously saying that witholding a ballot is having a bigger effect than eighteen days of strike action?

The SP is where it is because the market currently doesn't have any confidence that the business has a proper recovery plan in place.

Perhaps the 115,000 CWU members should be hauled up in front of court for exercising their legal right to withdraw labour?

Perhaps the 25,000 managers should be hauled up in front of the court for not managing the situation correctly?

I assume that if VESA wanted to increase their holding in IDS to beyond 30% then they would be forced to make a bid for the whole shooting match and the offer would have to be put to the shareholders vote?

If the offer was rejected, would VESA be obligated to increase their offer and if they didn't want to increase their offer would they then have to retreat to lower than 30% or would they be bound to increase their offer again?

I believe that statement was issued by Kenneth Williams a couple of weeks ago and the chairman is obligated to put this type of rubbish out there as it's what the big investors need to hear, however, I would advise caution on believing the hype...... from either side.....

Indeed, that's what the regulator is there for although I'm not the one demand an immediate response.....these things take time and I have even mentioned that it is perhaps cost effective for the UK operation to ignore the USO/delivery targets and pay the fines as they are applied.

Of course Kenneth Williams has stated that the USO and delivery targets are important but he is obligated to say that anyway?

AngerSharkz, your assumption that the Postal Services Act, or to be more precise, the USO sustainability part is not fit for purpose may well be borne out in the data that you have supplied but I don't think that the USO is going to be repealed or amended any time soon as the UK Government still has some four thousand plus pieces of EU legislation to wade through first in order to get Brexit done?

Ispy, we were informed only last summer on this very forum that when DK gets his act together and makes a bid for the company then the USO will be changed.
