They lost £M3 last year. Without ant change they will probably need the same this year and they do not have anywhere near that in the coffers. So they will have to do a raise. Obviously positive news from Simbec would move the SP skyward so that is essential before they ask for more, but that is pie in the sky. I am still gambling here but getting more uncomfortable!

If he is successful and dares to try, he will face the entire existing industry taking whatever legislation he creates to the courts all the way up on grounds of breach of Competition Law. Yes he can set up the new British Energy but he CANNOT require any existing energy companies to part with any additional tax to fund it,

This is because they cannot be forced to support a competitor - AND as a lawyer, he should be aware of it.

Cannot expect more news yet so we all have to hold and hope - after many years I am in for the real deal -whatever that turns out to be, like a few others on this Board. Just deeply fristrating!

I am voting for that nice Liberal democrat gentleman, not because I think his party will win but because it is smart for that party (possibly with Reform) to hold the balance of power and therefore cut the extreme edge off Labour policies. If you are smart, you should seriously consider doing the same. MNG are a decent dividend payer. I believe BoE will kick off with a 0.5% reduction in June and that will send a lot of investment into shares like these.

I am new here, having just bought cum Rights. LTHs are pessimistic but I see them as a cleaner energy play for the future and that is why I bought and intend to buy surplus in the Rights. Hoping I am right and the pessimists are wrong! I am prepared for a two year plus Hold.

M£23.75. Once the electricity starts flowing, that capital value must at least double pending profits. Once making profits, even marginal, then 8p will only value our capital at less than M£100. Very doable IMO so long as we don't need another raise.

Overnight thought of another good reason for being in here:

Large rights issue will mean real likelihood of opportunity to get more than my allocation by applying for unwanted rights shares. This will have to be managed if, like me, you have a virtually fully utilised 2024/5 ISA, but can be achieved. Now just waiting to see what the papers say about the rights issue. Anyway this fits with my policy of supporting clean(er) energy in my p/f where I can.

The co buys masses of cheap shares in the market. then our two duffers agree in principle to buy out the penniless Rathlin with cash they will have from the rising share price from RNS's like this one! Simples!

...ignore! Been in my Watchlist but today I ditched Johnson Matthey at a loss and started a position here. Vrtually nobody realizes how valuable IP can be to own but its time will come and AI may well emphasize that.

The trouble is that there is plenty of better shares in this market so why should this keep its place in my portfolio? I do not have quick return waiting for a possible bid so do I continue to hold and if so for how long?
