You are correct no one knows who is trading in reality and the market is very illiquid.
We have a small holding in ESO which goes days with no trades, we are slightly down on it because the spread is so very very wide. FFWD has had this problem in the past and even now it often has a 5% spread in real terms with so few trades, while the quoted range is in the 7.5% region.
This is reduced considerably once there are a few trades. Agin this is AIM, along with other small companies who are not very liquid.
To be fair, the MMs can be easily be caught out making it is very costly to them. How many MMs are there with FFWD We understood there were two. Until new news (good) arrives and the trades increase pushing the Market Cap. up a lot, no more MMs will be interested in it.
Some on here keep asking FFWD to give more updates but as an IT they can only (in law we think) repeat what the companies say themselves, even though privately they may know a bit more, especially where they are share holders in a company FFWD are invested in.
Two VCT ITs we hold have dropped back this last 12 months (AAM and Amart) and we are looking to add our stake in them to average out. Hopefully like FFWD (where we are showing a small loss) they will bounce back also, but until the news is good or there is a national newspaper article in praise of it (Daily Mail weekly Trust news) etc. we have to be patient.
For those with big holdings (especially if this is their only investment) it must be very frustrating and they tend to write the same thing in various disguises to pass the time, which gives the rest something to cling to.
As to how many shares in FFWD individuale hold, most do not really care about, only interested, possible as to whether or not they hold any at all. Cannot think someone would write posts if they do not hold shares, then perhaps we are a bit naive on that point.

Nice to see you have toned down the abuse as any new person reading it may find FFWD very off putting.
Just how many shareholders read these posts or they are read by possible new investors we feel the amount may be a very very small percentage. On that point We wonder how many investors there are in FFWD. Impossible to tell as brokers hold the shares in their name rather than the individual investor.
Keep the faith and buy when you can, as at this price range you are pretty safe (we hope).

We are also gathering a few pennies to round up our holding, (not £20ks worth unfortunately) hopefully before the next jump, which may surprise you all (the reason for the jump that is) as to what sets it off. Unexpected surprises should not surprise you all in this game. Expect the unexpected.

We always tried to buy out of favour stocks, especially if they had a well covered dividend and those below NAV. Then patience, lots of it.
Never buy at the top. Stocks drop quicker than they go up as a rule of thumb.
Buyers tomorrow would be nice, but FFWD not guaranteed to rise, as there may be a lot still happy to get out level or at a small loss.
Even if really good news arrives there will be sellers thanking their stars and retreating.
Then it will the case of buying on dips as the good news arrives.
Then maybe when all that good news arrives, some of you can buy that private jet you wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So true re the art of selling,

We would imagine that most of those who are selling have in fact NEVER heard of you all, or your INFORMATION given freely. They think "small loss lets get out"
The bright ones are sitting watching just how low it will go again with lots of small sales, then they we will come in again with their lumpy buys and tiddler investors like us will join in with their 10,000 share buys.
Many many years ago We were told that "once a share drops 10% get out". "Your first loss is your smallest loss". It has proved true many a time.

Sorry for the mistake we took the 13100000 from the amount shown on this site under London South East FUNDAMENTALS and the 15% from an earlier post on here a few days ago.as the FFWD % holding
Using your figures of 2.6% and 161 million issued in total, makes it 6.46p as you rightly say. The treasury ones are ours anyway.
We did look at the FFWD web site to see if they indicated what % of each company they held but omitted to spot the amount in issue.
This is where a lot go wrong, by getting incorrect information in the posts and on both the London South East and similar sites which are not updated.

Just looked in as the SP dropped to day, only to see the only trade was a buy.
An IPO was mentioned we noticed, ( but until it happens you can only estimate which of a number of figures it could be launched at).
If it was a float of 400 million and FFWD have 15% that is 60 million FFWD own,
Divide that between the 131 million issued shares in issues Then it is equal to 45.8P a share for FFWD holders, That seems rather a lot to us, if we have got our noughts right. So we will stand corrected no doubt by you boffins.

Agee, with the added "wish they would stick to information" rather than slanging each other off. Noticed the posts can reach 150 in a day.
We also bought in high (17p) and continued to add from 13p down to 9p (our last purchase).

We did think of selling 50% when it went up last week with the hope of rebuying at a lower price, but did not. When we have tried that in the past with other stocks they reversed and went up, so we thought better of it.

Now occasionally we scan down the board (generally only for that day as they tend to go on and on) to see if there is any good info. We tend now to look at the sites of those in the FFWD portfolio, when time permits.

We first looked at this board after our initial purchase of 7000 dropped to about 11p, and there was really good information which had us adding to the holding, but it continued to drop in price but we thought in for a penny in for a £ as the NAV was about 11p. Most ITs run at a discount with the odd exception.

We read more on the board and reckoned this is worth increasing our holding in. We added in blocks of between 10000 and 15000. Now we have a very large holding (for us), which is around 3 times more than our average IT holding. This is very unusual for us, in fact it is the only time we had done that

While it is large to us, it is probably only peanuts to what others hold. Will we add? probably not unless it is just another 7000 to round the total up, unless there is a big drop due only to profit taking.

We did query the holding held by 3 of the board in Emmac and came to the conclusion that they gambled initially with their own money but after they were satisfied they then put their cautionary FFWD cap on, which was the correct thing to do, and felt the it was right to put FFWD money in to Emmac now.

Off to the hospital now, but only the local one which is only 20 miles away, rather than the two and a half drive south to the main one.

Had a bitter disappointment to day when the local rag said Wetherspoons were closing (Up for sale), this one was only 20 miles away but the next nearest is again two and a half hours away.

We may look in here again towards the middle / end of next week. Keep faith in this one it may just be a bargain for those who average 10-12p

Regret the time we have for investments is very limited, which one of the reasons we now mainly buy I.Ts owing to our personal disabilities which are very time consuming. It is lucky we find the time to support you and read some bits on here.

How do you clever lot calculate the NAV of FFWD and its possible future value. We find Aim and unquoted companies very hard to calculate. In simple terms for us thick Os please if you get a chance

MMs, did you really think they created trades on Friday and Monday as one of you suggested the other day, and to what end?
There are a number of reasons we can think of but you lot seem to be nearer the pulse. We just buy stock on the fact that all the portfolio looks very interesting.

We are in and staying. No decision as to whether we add or not as yet.

As we have other birds in the oven too watch and add to.

Very true of this one. and probably of many more. They buy when good news arrives sell on bad news.

Think we all would just like some sort of info from FFWD, which in fact they cannot give until news is announced.

This site is quoting 3 trades today, must be including those 2 non trades from yesterday morning listed today.

Can not make our minds up about the MMs

We pay £12 per deal. Been with them yrs. We appreciate you can pay £9 or so on line. But then some people go to Tesco and others Liddle. Us? we go to both.
We do get a good personal service so why change? Everyone to their own
We tell every one we have 47 years to live now, started at 50yrs LOL think some of you take us seriously!!!!!!

They give us the spread on both stocks and options and we quote a price to deal at if we are happy, we set the price we will deal at just either way of the middle price. It is settled within seconds.

Sometimes the MM will come back at a slightly higher/lower price to our stated price and we split the difference to trade if we want to.
99.5% of the time we do trade at the mid price of what they come back with and of what we said we would trade at.
This especially is the case with Option deals more than physical stocks.

We can also leave a "specific" price to either sell/buy at which is either "good for the day" or "Good until settled" If it it outside the current quoted range.

There are a few small stocks they have to physically speak to the broker to trade.

We have not tried to trade by the computer, not that we have any objections to that, but always like to speak to someone rather than a machine, but we are old (approaching our 80s) and ancient!!! with less than 47 yrs to live.

FFWD
Pleased to note no sellers at the moment. Think those who will be buying or buying back in, following their sale yesterday are just waiting to see if it retreats further.

Once (If) one or two decent buys go in (50k+) then the others will follow (hopefully) . Doubt it will go above 11.5 until news arrives. Our guess the mid price will be just below 11p give or take when the buyers return.

If there is RNS the MM will adjust price accordingly before anyone can get in at the previous price prior to the NEWS, regardless of the time of the news. But quite often the MM does not go high / low enough which gives those who want to deal some leeway initially.

However surprises occur which can make our guesses appear stupid.

Patient is required by all, but there will no doubt be be a lot of price swings what ever happens
