Gb2 that’s a good point for newbies to ponder, Emirates are a huge airline with 262 new aircraft on order including 43 jumbo a380s, Yet they chose us as a partner. They are so short of pilots that they are actively cancelling various routes yet chose to take senior pilots out of service in order to pursue trials with us. They chose to hand over the limited and hugely expensive flight simulators for our tech to be extensively trialled,ahead of their own training requirements., why...They understand what a game changer we will be, and want to be involved. Our aviation division may not grab the headlines yet but don’t underestimate where we are going.

Once recognised as being of aircraft grade, something similar to guardian can provide data (in parallel with the existing Black box recorders) that would be a game changer for the entire industry. To know precisely when each instrument was observed and by whom can forensically change investigations. Fewer occurrences of pilots falling asleep would happen. The airlines continue to improve their safety record and we get to charge vast fortunes for both fitting and monitoring with large monthly fees from every single aircraft. The total number of aircraft is due to double in just 19 years, lubbly jubbly.

Not at all AJ, we are still no nearer to knowing the content of the article... all they mean by the term is the way airline companies constantly change, everything from onboard entertainment, onboard sales, no frills tickets, in fact anything to set themselves apart from the competition. Its because most travellers think of airlines generically.

Jack has been offered and accepted the position. His existing commitments will determine the amount of time he has available, but clearly needs to get up to speed. He may be full time and fully engaged with our bod for several months prior to taking on the additional chair responsibilities. This would all have been negotiated. I am failing to understand why potential takeover and future direction of the company can or should be viewed differently since the appointment announcement.

I have always thought aviation would be a fantastic opportunity and richly rewarding, nice to hear ken saying so. The problem with it has always been a two year lag behind fleet... but things are progressing, we continue to move positively ever forward.

Kk has proven himself eminently capable, so it’s great to hear he continues in the role. I am a little surprised as I assumed that he would chose to remain as chairman. Maybe they found a chairman whilst looking and failing to find a suitable ceo, We will probably never know.
The sp took a hit when mm departed so it is great to know that the situation has been resolved and that a safe pair of hands can continue the progress.
I am looking for signs of possibilities to our future direction following this announcement, but at the moment I am not seeing anything conclusive.

Lewbo that is a very good point, but ironically... yes the police just need to stand or drive in front and automatic brakes do the rest, then Just hope the system works, or some prat doesn’t override it...
I still think the biggest problem with level 5 automation, is that in busy cities you will never arrive anywhere on time, once everyone realises that these vehicles ALWAYS stop if you bully your way in front then that is what will happen.

Aircraft are quite capable of flying themselves anywhere and then landing themselves. In military aircraft the obvious application for our tech is the ability for an injured (or dead) pilot to be flown to safety once the technology has detected the situation. This is great for the injured pilot but More importantly the aircraft can be put back into service rather than simply crashing.
Commercially there are far greater prizes, safety on long haul routes is a great starting point, a doubling of aircraft numbers and vastly more air traffic controllers will be well worth our involvement. Ultimately the airlines will push hard, and invest heavily in the technology to allow them single pilot cockpits, but that is a way off yet. I have always imagined that we will witness see on every single commercial aircraft within the foreseeable future. Despite all this, aviation is still (rightfully) considered one of our smaller interests. Exciting times!

Totally agree with all of that, this drift is entirely predictable between updates, clearly its more interesting to witness the surges but we cannot expect that all the time. Where we are heading is key.
