I replied to ET yesterday because I felt that his post was unduly negative, (and one of the first posts afterwards asked when should we sell... )That’s not the same as us all ignoring other factors by burying our heads in the sand. Understanding the possibility of vw or Toyota suffering a future drop in sales is all well and good, but at the moment we don’t sell anything to Either. What we do have however is the very real possibility of taking the world by storm with some amazing technology, and to be involved with the best of the global corporations. We also have a major tailwind from both the EU and Euro ncap.
I am currently more concerned about the contracted sales of our first chips to the likes of Volvo, Boeing, VW, Toyota and a very very long list of others, if that makes me guilty of ignoring the bigger picture...

ET I agree that this is an amazing company with staggering untapped potential, but I’m not sure about some of your other thoughts. Plenty of companies survived 2008 and some did rather well, albeit a testing time for many. Rather than dwell on the negativity of your 10-41 post I believe that a more balanced view would cite both the achievements we have already witnessed and progress that has been alluded to by posters- including yourself. While the world is pondering the timings of recessions, a looming housing crisis, political upheaval and trade wars, we are quietly ( too quietly) taking a new technology and dominating the industry in a variety of different directions. As investors I have no doubt we have plenty to look forward to despite an occasional headwind.

looking at the numbers for fedex is quite illuminating, the total number of vehicles is 84,700 and 14,500 of those are trucks. They own 387 aircraft but operate an additional 284 on a contract basis. Having the kudos of association alone will brighten our day. It’s a very interesting time to be involved...

For the benefit of newbies, the figures for aviation are impressive ...
The lowest estimate for current commercial aircraft I have found ( passenger and cargo) ...23,600
In 20 years time Boeing estimates this will be 39,620
At any one time there are approximately 16,000 in the air
Boeing make 763 per year with a 7 year order book (despite 737max issues)
Airbus make 800 per year with a circa 9 year order book
If even a fraction of the the six figure price tag for our simulator installed technology is adopted by the aviation industry...now there’s a thought, enjoy your weekend!

The figures of 30,000 new pilots per year for 5 years ties in nicely with the incremental total global requirement of circa 750,000 over 20 years that we have previously discussed.

I would be interested to know how regulatory approval progresses, with regard to fitting our tech on aircraft rather than just simulators. The superb post by whatif18 suggests that they have or expect to soon receive the necessary approval. This welcome news is a game changer for the aviation division.

Havelot that reminds me of an incident a while ago, a child’s small ball came bouncing into the road from between parked cars, not in itself an issue, but I planted the cars nose, and just stopped short (expecting a child to run out and follow it, )a small face did eventually peak out and all ended happily but highlights the complexity of driving. Afterwards however it did occur to me that I had given no consideration at the time to vehicles behind me, and so diving complexity gets even more challenging...

“Agreed, we absolutely need to host an investors meeting and I will be working on that in the coming months. It would be unlikely to happen before we release audited year end results for FY19.”

Investors have been looking for heroes to bring about a perfect day which sees us dancing in the streets. The share price may have been under pressure but these changes will surely leave the man who sold the world lots of gold feeling hunky dory, and shareholders saying that he never let me down.

Beef, re your 07:23 (sorry at work) why are autonomous planes ridiculous, the Us military currently train more ucav (unmanned combat aerial vehicle or drones ) pilots than regular ones. civilian airliners already navigate their way around the globe and then routinely land themselves. Airbus claims it has the autonomous technology already, but I agree passengers are not likely to be accepting the idea any time soon. Despite this our aviation division still has an exciting and very lucrative opportunity ahead.

Terrym, I also expect single pilot aircraft, but not any time soon, it will be years away. Driven by pilot shortages and costs, the aviation companies will push things forward. In the meantime we can still monitor the entire worlds aircraft and build up many billions of miles of belief in the technology. Getting the regulatory approvals hasn’t been helped by the ongoing 737max saga.

Superb post Terrym, for me the standout comment was in cockpit monitoring. The move from simulator to cockpit (in an entirely non intrusive manner) through to full interaction (as seen currently in auto) is fraught with regulatory issues. The pathway is easy to predict, but the regulatory hurdles to overcome are significant. This is a very welcome step forward.

Needs to be notable, ie sufficiently published by independent sources. A link to a company website is not acceptable, blogs are similarly out. Proactive investors or a FTSE link would also be considered unacceptable because there would be an excessive interest in making money from it.
Emirates is a customer and therefore not independent.
Bloomberg was good for independence, as was the Canberra times. Academic papers are ideal and business press coverage is generally considered as ok.
The idea is that we should be aiming for encyclopaedic coverage and not marketing.

Auto has been quite rightly discussed, but fleet issues are now in hand but not itemised in the valuation. Data has definite yet unknown value, Off road continues steadily and in aviation we are creating a new market that is without competition and an upside that few can even begin to comprehend. Rail for me is the one area that has (to date) been disappointing.

Lifetheworry, on the contrary, lightning is proven to lower stress levels, anyone hit will generally not worry about anything at all...ever. Kia using lighting to lower stress levels is so last year.
