The sitting left leaning GOVs in Australia and Canada stayed in power against Trump leaning opposition. This was local elections, when protest votes often get amplified by lower turnout and less being at stake. As I posted earlier, Farage / Reform now have to actually deliver. If they do, they will do well at the next general election; if they do not deliver, they will have peaked too soon and exposed themselves as unfit for office.

Time will tell; personally, I am pleased that the public will get to see if they can deliver anything other than protest before the next Parliament.

And Reform is going to be tarred with Trump's tariff repercussions... Canada and Australia have shown just how toxic the association can be.

FT & Bloomberg do not seem that concerned... but this is not going to make Xi any more likely to sit down and negotiate with Trump [he is not keen on a 1-2-1; this just shows that his scepticism is well-placed]. Is Trump going to U-turn when shelves start to empty? I think markets are pricing in a softening of the trade wars [at least between China and the US]that are not going to happen.
