This week's Private Eye has a small article about Glencore. They note that Ivan will be stepping down as Chief Executive and leave the board in the first half of 2021, increasing speculation that a deal has been done with the authorities. They say:

"The usual price for agreement with the DoJ and SFO is that the company's previous management must have left.... is expected to include a possible multi-billion-dollar fine."

Enough economic and political capital has been spent getting the UK to no deal that they might as well crash out and see if there are any rewards for what has already been spent.

My view as a remainer is that any benefits will only become apparent in years to come - if it works then it will be good for all and their kids; if it goes pear shaped then the Tories will be gone for generations.
