Or, she knew the economy was in far worse condition than the Conservatives were admitting to and had made even worse by passing tax cuts that the economy could not afford in a desperate attempt to buy enough votes to not face being eclipsed by the LibDems. Laying the state of the Coffers out to be seen by all was never going to be appreciated.

Would you have preferred that she just continued overspending and undertaxing? And bear in mind that Defence is likely to have to be significantly increased. Belt tightening time after the Conservatives sold the roof whilst the sun was shining, the NHS and schools crumbling and raking up trillions in £ of debt. All of which now need paying for and none of which was inflicted on Labours watch.
