RE: 4D Pharma world leaders in gut microbiome therapeutics :15 May 2020 15:26
Obesity levels and the accompanying comorbidities are now increasingly being focussed upon :
Obese patients are at an increased risk for developing many medical problems, including insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease, stroke, sleep apnea, gallbladder disease, hyperuricemia, gout and osteoarthritis.
We are purported to be the most obese nation in Europe, with a staggering 30% plus of the population clinically obese. I'm all for small government but this is clearly one area where the wings of big business need to be clipped (many of the culprits don't even pay their fair share of tax to the country) and government will have to intervene. The cost to the exchequer is enormous and solving the obesity crisis is a sure fire way of helping the NHS.
And of course as an add on to the obecity debate, as was outlined in the article, we have the gut microbiome.
From the list of signatories to that letter, the medical profession recognises its importance and 4D Pharma are ideally placed to play a leading role in the development of a suite of live biotherapeutics, not only to fight CV 19 but a whole range of other
diseases. News feeds on news and let's hope that there will be more coverage over this weekend.
