The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Surely it is about time we had news of how a myriad of the above are progressing. Some Co's mentioned below.
June 2016 CT Engineering; Absolute Engineering; Oct 17 Israel Aerospace Industries; Nov 17 Global Consumer Goods Co.
Dec 17 Global Chemical Major (A Fortune 100 Co); Mar 18 World Leading Aerospace Co; Aug 18 AXIA Materials; Oct 18 Advanced Insulation; Dec 18 AECOM; Chinese Aerospace Co; May 19 BP Polymers; April 20 Rolls Royce & before that Airbus. I could have added more.
So many collaborations etc, yet news from many of them has been non-existent. The Lanstead sharing agreement cannot be going well either with the low sp.
GLA very patient holders.
A pleasing Q3 update and net debt down by a near $5m over the Qtr, lots to like, although I'm still just underwater the prospects look promising so happy to hold. GLA
Apologies for off topic.
Last week on CNBC the National Grid reckoned there was enough gas to see us through winter but electricity was tight. How on earth is enough electricity going to be generated over the next couple of years with millions more EV's on the road. On the same programme it was suggested that the government would have to re-think it's stance on coal. GLA
LG acquired over 138m shares in July 2015 to take their holding to 9.9%, I'm not sure what price they paid per share but less than a month previous ITV directors were buying @ 266p. LG would be sitting on quite a loss, like many shareholders, me included.
I have never been a fan of share buybacks but as you say CTG in this energy crisis CNA would get hammered by the media, so if there is to be a shareholder payout buying back shares would be less controversial. GLA
Lighten up Jack, I don't partake in the pirate theme myself, but if so many do and are having fun then surely that is fantastic, there's so much gloom & doom around that anything which brings about some cheer has to be good. GLA
Good morning barchid and all.
Again I don't recall saying I wanted him, I was intimating that having been at MARS for so long he may not wish to give it up, and when he moves to CCR he could launch a t/o for MARS.
I agree his performance has been less than stellar, certainly since 2019 however that can be said for many co's, the pandemic has hit hard. He did allow too much debt to be built up though, which didn't help.
GLA
Hi barchid, the point I was making re RF was that having been involved with MARS for so long he may wish to keep the association going, I don't recall saying he was successful so the 'get real' comment was unnecessary but hey ho have a good evening. GLA
Ralph Findlay has been at the helm of MARS for 20 years, it would make sense for him to take MARS under his wing again whilst in his new post at CCR. This could get exciting but maybe not until next year. AIMHO of course. GLA
Interestingly from 16th Sept 2021------------Marston's PLC today announces that Ralph Findlay, Chief Executive Officer of the Group, has been appointed as a Non-executive Director and Chair designate of C&C Group plc ("C&C"), the vertically integrated premium drinks company, with effect from 1 March 2022. It is the subsequent intention that Ralph will succeed Stewart Gilliland as Chair of C&C in July 2022.
C & C look a good fit, twice the market cap of MARS with a rising sp which could facilitate cash plus shares t/o. Need to do more research into C & C (CCR). GLA
Don't give up JG, I'm sure better times are just around the corner. Many of us have experienced the drop after we buy and will no doubt continue to do so, it's infuriating but hold on for news from MARS over the coming weeks. GLA
The end of July trading update was encouraging and with the majority of people having staycation holidays that should continue, there was a fear that pubs would run dry, but if that has been avoided then it all looks positive. GLA
Just bought in again first bought in 2016 @ 149p and again @ 123p & 33.9p and sold them @ 82p this Jan. Always liked them and they used to pay a good divi, anyway for better or worse I'm back in. GLA
