Adam Smith I have never read directly, it was once put to me on a Sunday afternoon walk that he believed that if there wasn't some Christian basis within Capitalism, it would ultimately fail, I assume good moral standard would be within modern scope of that, reasonable alternative but not in opposition, to replace or extinguish, in my opinion.

Also was about capitalism, monopolisation, inequality, and instability - to put it mildly within future society.it wasn't anti-capitalist but ultimately was positive towards a literally co-operative type of capitalism - brother to brother (step brothers, two of the protagonists...), too much greed (by implication - in my opinion) too much concentration of power by one individual was not harmonious enough with society, he coud still alternatively reach the top but needed to be wise enough not to leave others too far behind - for the good of all.

I do think Continuum was overall, brilliant, even if cancelled after the third season, but in Canada, they were generous enough to allow a truncated fourth season - enabling a fitting conclusion to the story.

On some of the visual representation of corporate, high tower capitalism, and alternatively, in a not too far back time: one rebel and others from that era choosing to live in a simple sustainable way, off the land without going hungry - there were vivid and atmospheric, visual representation of these themes - with some very good actors.

The conversation was, to be more precise, within five to six years of the release of the British release of film reckon the other John I referred to was John Suart Mill, and do hope I actually referred to him! : ) think I did, they were both originators of Utilitarianism, though I regard Jeremy Bentham more as the first originator (not fully checked that) think I've done an essay in relation to Mill but long ago, can remember the blue cover - truly, substantial paperback book I read and did submit an essay with regard to Utilitarianism, with more concentratiin on Mill than Bentham.

Actually checked Bentham's first name earlier but same first initial ... and not well enough, occasisinally ovrestimate my digital reading ability before having at least had some tea ( and now toast so far).

I'm pretty sure I've never written an essay on Consequentialism which developed from Utilitarianism but following sone furher reading from some time ago, I would say I like Consequentialism and have respect for Utilitarianism, a bit of instinct snd intuition without much study if it.

Haven't got much time time to check spelling and specific chronology, must get on with stuff.

I will add that the fim "A Beautiful Mind" via the character depiction of John Nash and his mathmatical contribution to econonic theory reminded of a utiltiarian philosopher, John Bentham.

Further.. I did have a conversation with an acquaintace back then, who was doing an evening philosophy course, I mentioned what I considered to be (somewhat) a mathematical expression of utiitarian philosophy and the two Johns : ). Her tutor had mentioned Bentham in relation to that film, the real :') conversation was not long after the realease of the film.

I see there was a post at 09:20 by a naysayer, often he refers to himself in a group capacity in that context. There have been worse variations of that type of post of posr from him, not all are retained. Such posts remind me of a generic troublemaker, a starter (perhaps not much of a participant) and not a finisher..

Yesterday by coincidence overlapping with the time of blueboy1975's evening post, I stopped trouble with my voice - it travels through the air quite well within a range, the instigator looked round and stopped, he was appprehensive. I am not going to explain further on that reality but the strawman post from yeterday was also an attempt at gaslighting. I appreciate the chronlogical approximate, very near coincidence, I didn't have time to confirm it eas literally the same minute.

Peace on the street quicky resumed. I did not have to physically engage and I was able to get home not to much later and get to the gym, don't like to muss an intended session. Chinese take away after a subsequent walk, stats warm even after posting.
