Yes there must be a good reason why someone would buy ITV shares in the USA when they could pick them up a lot cheaper in the UK today. There was 28 million volume of share traded on LSE, and currently ADR's 1,237.266 equivalent UK 12.3 million.

ITV closed down 5.60p 4.45% 120.25p
ADR price currently up $0.24 1.34% $18.19

ADR $18.19..... equivalent 128.50p..... LSE price 8.25p below the ADR price.

Rock, I think that we all agree that on a day like today when pretty much everything's down across the board. Today apart I do think that the ITV share price is being held back and has been for a long time. Like I have said previously going back to last summer when GS were holding 21% of ITV. No doubt GS may not be on their own.

The FTSE100 is back below 7,000, down 160pts @6,964. Back to December 1999 levels, 21 years with no gain while the DOW has gone from 11,497 to 34,742...... More than trebled, while the FTSE100 done bugger all. Surly the next 21 years has to outperform the DOW???? I won't hold my breath on that one.

Janus, you're right regarding the UK isn't reacting to the USA valuation. Why not? It's the same company, why should the USA valuation be any different to the UK valuation? I can only come to one conclusion that Goldman Sacks who have history of this kind of market manipulation are in charge of the ITV share price.

Going back to August of 2020 GS held over 21% in ITV shares, this includes the 9.9% that they loaned from Liberty Global. LG have now recalled their 9.9% holding. I still believe that GS have a lot to answer for.

I know that ITV are down with the wider market, but last night in the USA the ADR's after hours trading shows ITV up 5%, yet here we are down 3%.

Perhaps foreign buyers are catching on to the bargains on offer in London? For me, ITV (LSE: ITV) is a FTSE 250 company that might fall to a bid, due to persistent weakness in the ITV share price.

I agree Michael, ITV couldn't afford to buy BT Sport. Although, I think that they were only ever interested in acquiring a few football games.

I think that we may break above 130p next week provided the strength over the pond continues.

I would have thought that if a predator is about to make a move on ITV it would be this month with the FTSE100 reshuffle taking place in June, with ITV's current valuation of just over £5bln with a good chance of re entry in the FTSE. This would bring in new funds purchasing ITV shares that in turn should move the share price higher. The longer they leave it ITV may become more expensive.

Interest from across the pond
While UK entities like telecoms giant BT Group PLC (LON:BT.A) may be hankering after ITV’s content creation arm, Davidson says offers may be more likely to come from US players.

He cites US-listed Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA), which already holds a 10% stake in ITV, as having a “starting point if they wish to make a move”.

Rock, if indeed we do receive a takeover bid, what percentage on top of the current share price would you expect? 30-40 maybe? In the region of 165p-175p, I would think. Without competition I would estimate this price.

I've only listened to the last 5 minutes of the Liberty Global investors Q1 2021 presentation conference call with no mention of ITV.
