Morning All
Further to Wacky's post, I think that we are pretty safe from radical environmentalists, irrespective of the fact that we are one of the greenest o & g plays around.
Let's look.where we operate on shore, because on shore o & g sites far easier site to picket and demonstrate than off shore and it isn't just environmentalist shutting on the attack. There are indigenous pressure groups in Canada, the US and Peru right through to Tory controlled county councils on the Isle of Wight and in Surrey.
T & T is the third richest nation by GDP in the Western Hemisphere, largely as a result of their Petro-chemical industry. The populace won't be wanting that to change anytime soon and our presence will undoubtedly create new jobs and help the industryretain existing.. They will all be aware that they are many times more wealthy than Jamaica, one of the most violent crime ridden societies in the world. I'd say opposition to our presence will be negotiable.
Morocco, desperate for energy independence, currently spending a large and (hopefully) unecessary proportion.of the GDP on importation of fuel. Our operations will not only bring decent well paid work, but the money saved on importation can be better spent elsewhere on infrastructure projects creating more jobs.I'd say opposition to our presence will be negotiable.
Which leaves Ireland. Thankfully our operations, whether drilling Corrib/Rams Head or building our FSRU will be out of sight and out of mind as out sea. On the off chance that the Irish eco lobby are ruled enough to launch a marine eco assault, Greenpeace style, as Wacky says, are they really going to pick on o & g minnows like PRD /Theseus
whilst there are bigger multi national fish to fry?
