a counter point : To open a short you have to have a guarantee on being able to source equiv. stock to buy when that short is closed.. So where would that guaranteed stock coming from? Private Investor stock held via whatever trustees or Barclays Stockbrokers or similar use is generally not loaned out.. and why would II's allow Prime Broker/ Custodian etc Stock Borrow Lending desks loan out their stock to a shorter towards looking to push down the price of a stock that they hold a long position in ?

There are guys on other BB who subscribe to short tracking services.. eg how much stock is on loan from SBL desks for shorting purposes.. of what declared short interests there are by hedge funds etc ....If anyone looking in here has info on this for ies.l please shout?

To me the core issue here is at least one large Institional holder downsizing - or exiting totally - their position....there may be some shorting in parellel but thats not the main issue is my guess.. (the duration of the fall, and the extent of the fall is altogether epic... hence my gues on shorting not at the core of the problem.. but I may easily be wrong of course)

ps when the market cap fell to say 50 ish m that might even have triggered another Institution having to sell as the Fund this was held in - eg Micro Cap fund - may have rules not allowing it hold co's with market of less than 50m.. so one II dumping could have subsequently lead to a second having to.. )

eg I held a dog called Rose Petroleum for years and was way down .. it swapped out its chairman/CEO and changed its name to Zephyr..the new guy was a top man in his field, with the right network/local knowledge etc.. and he's turning it around massively..and the s/p went from .5p ish to 7.5 ish p in shortish order, last year .. it has been a bit tricky since granted ..but might easily roar again soo(ish)..

People ask me why don't I do more of my own research, instead of generally hoping form bulletin board to board offering mostly cr+ppy jokes - at least 25% of my jokes are not c+appy imho - only.. and I offer back that when there are posters who are hands down more capable than I am then it's best I just accept my limitations and be thankful for such quality posters.. and this board is blessed with more than its fair share, thankfully..

i do think you're very entertaining Dodgepot, in fairness... but we're in this game to make money ..or at least not lose money.. and that requires more good than bad calls..and FK1 has called this excellently so far.. and Noel when he changed sides too.. and they deserve respect for that imho.

If I were you I'd target more The Chairman /Senior management /Board of this company with your 'humour' here .. bacause their performance so far has sadly been abject.. including many chances at 'do overs' through the latest raise /strategy change.. etc.. too.. but where there's breath there's still hope .. and so maybe they can turn this into a profitable business in the end.. it's still possible.. and so its still possible this share multi bags too from wherever, whenever .. here's hoping..

And with the African Assets easily valued at v approx 2p of the share price here, around now.. you could fairly readily say the market is currently valuing Bushranger somewhere in the 10 to 15 m gbp range....

(Towards taking whatever positives when the going gets tough: That's more than has been altogether spent on it so far, at least..(I think)

Altogether, my guess is that the market is wrong and the top posters here are right.. but it's usually not about completely wrong versus completely right .. more about degrees of wrong and right.. but even half decent degrees of right can still be plenty profitable for most bets in play here.

I see FK uses 54 p for eg - and having a bet on a 99% down - from peak -stock is always something that interests me, for whatever reason....eg the story to tell on the off chance it - somehow - made it into a decent company in the end ..

And look in for first time and see blue and 139 on my screen .. 139%, it sadly is not.. 13.9 %, alas it is not either even.... but it is blue.. or at least it was 5 mins ago..

Tricky share this .. but I understand the race is long.. and so back to my hole... and just sit on my small / mid sized bet here .. and hope or the best 'in due course'..

PS: I'd like to say I look in on this board regularly.. but that would be like a full time job in itself..however, from glancing in here sometimes, I'm thankful for the AT LEAST 10% of the posts here that are of good quality...I'd like to say the rest of you know who you are, but that would be factually incorrect :-)

Smalleyus is far from a village idiot imho.. indeed agreed. gotabesirius, he seems like an intelligent person.. but there a feel of hatefulness / spitefulness in his posting, sadly.

Did HMI/someone in its managment team do you personally a great injustice previously smalleyus?

I've seen many negative posters, including myself on some boards - I'm not liked on Landore for eg - but his attitude here feels unique to me.. and if someone offered to pay him to deramp here, it feels to me like he'd say. keep your money in your pocket, I intend doing that with extreme gusto completely free of charge.

Something I meant to look up yesterday after thread with grshaw.. but only got around to now:

I see a total voting rights RNS here for 8th Dec 2020 saying approx 85m shares in issue for ies.l then.. and from the s/p chart I see the s/p at 215p approx on/around that day.. thats approx 182 m gbp market cap for this co.18 months ago - and peak peak may have been a little higher than that even -.. and now fast forward to today and the market cap. is approx. 40m gbp (very happy to stand corrected on any of these no's of course )

This co. is in a very desirable green economy sector, and lead player in its space, is progressing decently as we go, and has no debt and a good cash buffer in the bank.. so this is 'some fall for one fall', in fairness !

Generally, I'm a hard core aim player who still plays plenty in O&G sector.. and granted I've seen falls like that there more than occassionally there.. but on flakey stocks/fundamentals - eg blue sky explorer with no assets yet definitively proven up, and low on funding one more time etc- and that's a sector in longterm decline too.

To see such a fall for a stock such as ies.l is a shocking experience for even a hardened player such as me... and I can't help thinking it's a - very - compelling buying opportunity anywhere remotely around here ..but that's just my opinion... and all I can do is put my money where my mouth is and hope i've made a good bet on a multi month horizon...

So here's hoping

And there was me thinking Justin Timberlake himself was taking an interest in Falanx.. If it's Mr Dribbles instead impersonating the great Mr Timberlake.. well.. that would be a big let down.. huge even ..

monetising the huge potential here has been a mare so far granted/sadly... but betting on a stock such as this is like a green economy play in my mind.. this is a leding player in a space that 'is the future'.. so there will v likely be exponential growth in its market space as we go.. and that readily feeds strong hope that this will can be a very successful company in the end .. but it's a tricky play still, in cluding that funding here can eaily be an issue in the short term.. and I'm not sure how to play this... I had a bit bigger holding here a while back .. but have settled now on sitting patiently on 5k gbp ish bet here .. and seeing what happens.. and me having an approx 20p average is low versus the field I'd guess.. and that helps as a nice comfort blanket around my - clearly required - patience, in fairness..

also Noel there's a chance that sometime, somebody, somewhere ,somehow decides that this is a business they see as worth buying for say 10m gbp when the MC was say 5m gbp at that time - for eg -.. then an RNS drops that the board recommends this offer .. and you get one v big bounce at open

You may well be right one more time FK 1 - and you've been right constantly for many years here - but there's always hope that they can eventually turn this into a genuinely profitable business.. nobody can say for certain they won't .. balance of probability may well be they won't .. strongly so even ..especially if history is anything to by.. etc..

But, still even, range trading opportunities have existed previously here - I'm certain because I minimized previous losses here via them, not big size wins granted but a grand or two here and there altogether added up somewhat etc.. - and may well occur again here.. indeed if you'd bought in the early .50's earlier in week and sold at .65-.70 this morning that's an eg of a semi decent range trade here even this week..granted maybe one or two only actually executed it .. and it could have been in small size only too in this instance granted.. etc..

My GUESS is that one of the large holders - see list pasted here by me yesterday - is indeed unloading very significantly.... also there may have been some shorting in parellel, especially in the knowledge of a big seller in play. (i'd, wildily granted, also guess it's a name in the top half of the over 3% list below instead of the bottom half.. as there has been ongoing unloading for ages now, that cumulatively comes to plenty of per cent of the total shares in issue.. )

Other II's... and ies.l Directors too... one way or other, likely have a good idea on who is unloading.. and even, very approximately, how close they might be to finishing their unload.... and this couldn't help but have some influence on what/when they may/may not think about adding some more to their holdings here....

Total guess work and may be plenty wrong of course..

..and right now all I hope is that the bleeding stops now/asap ..and this rallies strongly.. from the 30's p - and not lower again - very very please..

a decent RNS, and better than some may have expected..

..so I just put a bet back on here.. small only entry level - 1300 gbp - and had to pay .65p .. I'd have gone a bit bigger size if quoted .60p ish.. but still.. I'm back in.. somewhat surprisingly to me granted..
