RE: The original 'Apple ' Agreement28 Dec 2023 14:36
You completely miss the point of my initial post.
NOTE: The 2018 Supply Agreement for sensors was cancelled because they were too expensive to mass produce.
AVP is a high end product never expected to be mass produced. Yes it might sell in higher volumes that predicted but its likely to remain in the low millions of units not the hundreds of millions of units an iphone sells in. In many ways it is a Ferrari to be used for special occasions not a BMW for the school runs and each has different attributes and qualities and costs. Not many people can afford a Ferrari and the same is true of AVP.
Your example of Iphone 1 is flawed as it was always going to taken up quickly as it rolled three already adopted and widely used technologies into one product
I. An ipod
II An internet Explorer
III A phone
Aside from some existing VR /AR products this market is still niche. When a company does to AVP what Apple did with Iphone 1 and make them affordable, small enough to be worn in every day use then it will be mass produced and possibly replace the mobile phone.
Where we do agree is the overall applications for QD sensors is massive and varied. And things will get cheaper and smaller but right now my point is that the previous barrier to market (price related to mass production) is potentially moot
