RE: Nanoco device team?30 Nov 2023 08:54
ST CMOS uses colloidal lead sulphide Quantum Dot technology for SWIR imaging in the consumer market. They use dots from Nanoco in my opinion and I think we can all be quite certain of that.
Where that sensor ends up is the question and currently we are speculating on the answer. Will a tear down of vision pro identify a ST component?
Reading the patent re Apple yesterday and the retina eye tracking technology versus previous eye tracking technology it's clear that some sort of very high specification sensor technology is required, and that technology will become more ubiquitous in devices or applications requiring eye tracking-i.e. headsets. In this application the device is tracking miniscule movements and almost nuances. I think it will remain fairly niche however in terms of the required sensitivity of movements.
For me the larger use of SWIR will be less refined applications in the consumer, industrial and military world. Not sure it's a world I'm looking forward to, unless of course I can profit from it.
