Maxi it’s very difficult to know why an obscure investment fund in California has taken up a position but I think they are not the only one? Perhaps someone can confirm or correct me. Like the local funds I referred to earlier they rely on local networks or indeed people connected to make investments and my hope is that’s the case here, either via ST or Apple but there’s other companies that could be involved too. But as I also indicated, it can be speculative and is not guaranteed to be a success as for every person made wealthy by a single speculative investment, there will be millions who lose out.

It's a hedge fund I think is the point Kooba is trying to point out which means they could be taking a position to go short.....but hedge funds go long too.

CCC are a partner of Funicular Fund LP -another investment vehicle. Sounds like a small investment fund tailored for high net worth individuals focused on a sector of interest. There are a few in Aberdeen focused on new oilfield technologies to replace the sledgehammer. In most cases someone knows something about that company and it's prospects but in most cases they fail to materialise because the end user is risk averse. But sometimes the horse comes in and they make some already wealthy people more wealthy. What a lovely world we live in, but that's what we are here for too I guess....

Fairly small investment vehicle [pun] but encouraging . What do they know about tech in California though?

Happy workplaces and happy teams only come from horrible bosses in companies with zero prospects…..

read the research notes and take a view on whether you think the ceo is a crook, a charlatan or just someone trying to steer a company towards success….but don’t ask anyone here for their opinion or posters will get their tackle out and try to prove they can still **** standing up.

My advice would be to ignore this board as it's just a place where people are so entrenched that a balanced view is nigh on impossible.

Check back in October when the company issues it's next update which is all that really moves the needle anyway. It'll either be good news or bad news or news that one group will make out as bad and the other will make out as good. Probably the latter.

In the meantime though someone might post some useful research or discover a previously unearthed snippet or presentation but I'm not sure there's much left to be discovered.

Indeed but perhaps Gen 1 was always about paving the road to Gen2 in so far as sampling the new architecture, software and boards so when Gen2 comes it’s more of a continuation than starting from scratch. Pure speculation on my part.

Again I can’t speak for BT or TW or in a factual basis on this anymore than you can. Unsurprisingly you’ve taken the route that their actions were intended to deceive or be corrupt if this is indeed what happened whilst I might be minded of what was said in the mail article about what might happen if there was a delay. O what might seem criminal to one could be viewed as prudent financial stewardship by another.

I dont think the suggestion was they kept money back so they might announce news that would drop the price and buy more on the cheap, more like they wanted to keep the cash in case ST advised them Gen 1 was dead to preserve cash to keep the company going.

Kooba I genuinely don’t know what is happening anymore than anyone else and I’ll reflect on this theory some more but some of it might add up. Whether it’s right /wrong/criminal/ irrelevant I’ll mull over.

How do you arrive at the conclusion they are behaving like crooks? If it’s true and let’s face it, TW just came up with a theory that sounds plausible (you couldn’t pin a reason for the pause either) but it’s just another theory but suppose it’s true then what have they done that’s wrong?

I’ll explain my views first before you entrench yourself in MAR rules.

-we are all agreed they are supposed to paint the company in a positive light !?

-so they prepared a bullish piece

-but at the same time they had concerns over the lack of follow up order

-so they decided to ask for an update

-in the meantime the CEO and CFO thought perhaps it prudent to pause the buyback until we know more

-upon hearing there would be no orders in FY24 but that there might be more confidence in orders in FY25 and they will be in a better position to update the market in October they restarted the buyback

they then released a trading update

The alternative is they burn cash that might be vital at a later date completely blindly. I have some confidence they have an idea what’s happening, just not yet firm enough to say because ST are not certain themselves -yet.

Have to admit I’m a little anxious about the update in October but I can see the thinking behind pausing the buyback. If they were expecting orders that didn’t materialise then it makes sense to hold onto funds and as you suggest it’s perhaps not a coincidence that the buyback resumed immediately after an update from ST in so far as they may have indicated no orders in FY24 but there will be orders coming later (based on forecasts). All still a bit uncertain and discombobulating but hopefully it works out well. I’m holding.

I think for devices we can now conclude that means a global shutter camera or other similar photodiode based sensor.

It’s quite conceivable ST did plan on manufacture millions but no evidence they have made any and if they have it’s likely to be a number of evaluation kits along with software and boards.

October might simply be a reaffirmation that the same intention remains but there has been little uptick in sales or interest from the end users.

Nanonano or it means they have yet to launch the sensors publicly that align with the SWIR segment of the presentations we’ve seen over the last few years from ST and Steckel.

Makes me wonder more about BT’s comments that it’s unlikely the devices are in use today at the Q&A where we jumped to the conclusion that meant not in AVP.
