What Is Net Zero ?15 Oct 2024 11:11
Basically, the shifting of the UK manufacturing, goods and services overseas.
Net Zero excludes emissions from:
International air travel
International shipping
The burning of biomass such as wood, straw, biogases and poultry litter for energy production
The production of goods and services that the UK imports from other countries.
Putting aside the fact that 1990 is used as the baseline for Little Britain !
So shutting down UK O&G importing from Qatar / US and importing renewable infrastructure and services from China / US etc will in itself probably makes sure UK reaches the net zero target, but at what real cost to the country ! The National Wealth Fund launched today is yet another example of smoke and mirrors too.
