@crumbs - the whole setup needs over hauling but how can they do it when obstacles are constantly chucked in the way? RM will be the leading courier in the UK eventually, no one else has a network like yours its just needs sorting out and the union got shot of. Every area should be ring fenced imo technology is changing fast so there is so much scope for change, right now is the start of 4th industrial revolution with AI, Automation, and big data, RM needs to get itself positioned right to take full advantage of it, ive worked in the sector for nearly 30 years so i can see whats coming, thats why im invested here.

what i dont understand and find completely absurd is how 115K members of the CWU all demand the same treatment like they all do exactly the same job in the same area with the same requirements.

In todays world companies have micro fine tune job roles and terms to get productivity levels up, how on earth the CWU members expect to be competitive if roles are not fine tuned at a local level. Its almost bordering some form of fascism labelling and treating everyone the same just because they are a member of the CWU. I watched bot chat and there were many complaining from parcelforce about the behaviour of the cwu and that they felt hijacked by this dispute.

This 'one size fits all' approach was fine for miners in the 70s and 80s, one would think staff of a 'Royal' branding company would like to be treated in such a way with refinement on a local level.
