@Angerz - yes certainly its a different world today and plenty of money around in the right circles, the cut backs are real though and relative to today, people living in fear of turning heating on, hot water with electric immersion heaters, electric cookers, government support wont be endless and reality is going to bite hard once all this supports stops. The difference is the massive class divide now forming, back in the 1970s most people were skint which is not the case today, there is definitely an underlying feeling of the haves and have not’s.

@hopeful - Pete is a troll account, look at the nonsense hes posted on other random boards to try and fool us, theres some funny fakers on here with multiple ID's, i prefer deluded users with just one account like big-blue, at least you know what your dealing with... lolol

@Angerz - i remember the miners strikes in the 80s, i was born in the very early 70s these next ten years are going to mirror it, its already got that feeling and i dont see inflation coming down not on the very basic things we need to live off like food etc, oil production is being cut back again to keep the prices at the pumps high.

Dave is forcing cut backs on the company by his stand off, i would bet good money that this stand off is he knows his Days are numbered, the new terms for new employee's will make the union irrelevant, hes trying to save his own backside else why have they not come clean on the deal breakers?

@Angerz - the market likes the news that union is continuing to dig its own grave, the charts are looking bullish on multiple times frames

@Fatty - not the same scenario is it, GLS, Parcelforce, bod have stated they are ploughing on now regardless, up to employee's now if they want to keep their jobs, how about the members picket the CWU and Dave for a vote? No membership unless we get a vote else what am i paying for?

@BigBlue - what nationality do you think the Shaiklin 2 rig workers are\where and also POLY Rus, %110 more reason for a complete grab on Shanklin than any company employing Rus citizens. Also the R&D of Shaiklin was huge and Russia needed the western expertise to complete the project, it was extremely complicated from what i read, yet they have\are going to pay up, seems to me like they do not want to cut there ties with the west. A lot of this Russophobia you read online is western propoganda, judge people on their behaviour and there word not hot air.

@isleworth - i didnt read your post, and i dont know the ins and outs of the bonus and what the requirements were, do you know the finer details other than they got paid more than you?

i think the risk of seizure by the Krtemlin was\is more of a concern, but with Shaiklin 2 Shell holders now getting paid off (announced yesterday) its seems unlikely the Kremlin will be grabbing any other companies now, its a little more derisked in my opinion.

if you read between the lines they are promoting co-operation, if you co-operate then you will be rewarded, this is called incentivising, if they have done what was asked of them and more why would you not pay it, they want co-operative workers

@isleworth - i think you are on a wind up me ole brancher, company runs on serviceable and has cash flow, how do you think you are getting your wages?

Would it make sense to fight those bonus contracts even if costs more then just paying them regardless of the result?

I think its hitting home now Dave and CWU days are numbered, its a bitter pill to swallow i know but time is a great healer and will soon pass.

islesworth all the best run companies incentivise their staff, that is well know fact, RMG is in transition mode, how the hell can they get it right if Dave and co try and stop any changes, how can you expect to improve service until everyone in the chain has also seen some productivity changes, the company has to start somewhere.

Change is hard for some people, certain character types really struggle with it, its something you have to learn to do and embrace and just go with it, ive worked for a company that ran 10 times better when the boss and managers where away on long vacations, your not the first and wont be the last but you have to start somewhere. That somewhere is right here and right now.

so from what little im hearing its about new employee terms and conditions, wouldnt happen to be that they are not allowed to join the union? or the terms are lesser on accepting the job which makes the union totally irrelevant? there we have it ladies and gents Dave trying to save his own **** no thought for the posties who are already working...

@isleworth - its contractual, the bankers do it all the time, companies cant actually get out of this easily once its agreed, not without a fight which by the time they fought and lost its a lot cheaper just to give the bonus in any case.

@ParodyPete - it appears ive done my job properly if ive reached the lofty heights of the top 3 along with MR and BB, its a shame as your missing some good tips and tricks, arguments, banter, and chase and dave golden oldies.

@Angerz - its sounds like the bod have done their best to be accommodating, doesnt sound like Dave gave even a mm let alone an inch, hope your right as cant keep on like this endless kicking the can down the road. Tough decision have to be made at some point. Is Dave going to make another announcement or disappear completely.... in all honesty its a failure on his part as his role and job is to negotiate and come to a deal, if after a year back and forth he still doesnt get it he never will, not suited to the position maybe? When do we expect the next announcement from CWU?

What do you guys think will happen now with Dave and Co, i think the USO will go into partial administration, as long as employee's continue to work i dont see this as a problem.

This could actually be Dave saying his goodbyes, leaving out the back door, its not a win and not a lose, would be perfect time for him to do one, business carry on as normal for time being and\or posties just decide to accept the offer...

@Red - maybe you can explain these B shares to me then, i got another cert come through do i now have 2 sets of shares? Ive not bothered researching it due to the fact i dont intend to sell, im guessing one pays divi's the other doesnt and when the price reaches a certain point the B shares will mature into fully fledged FTSE shares?

its NT to buy even a piddly amount yet they will take me whole holding £2.45p big fish swimming around the pond now, just what we wanted.
