People keep referring to HBRs 'huge debt' as if its some kind of out of control RBL facility, like it was in the bad old days. Its debt maturities are taken care of until 2028 I believe (pre-funded?) and at a good credit-worthy rate. You dont get to buy billions worth of assets, and push your turnover past $10bn by looking down the back of the sofa for spare change
I do agree that the market has perhaps been made a nervous by rumours of deal-making so soon after Wintershall, but it will judge HBR on the terms of any deal, relative to extra debt, not just on the fact HBR might have increased debt relative to some years ago
HBR have been unfortunate with oil market moving into over-supply, but that would hopefully move the price of any deal in their favour
